Hello! Dear Owners, Stylists & Clients, It has been an incredibly busy year for Just Cuts and JUSTICE Professional, with so many exciting events, celebrations and updates taking place since our last issue of Just News. So this issue, our last for the year, is packed full with highlights of all this and much more. Our Academy Team and Franchise Owners have just returned from the Just Cuts Annual Conference in beautiful Phuket, Thailand, where we enjoyed ample networking, team building activities and presentations from some fantastic presenters. We were lucky enough to be able to take home some priceless learnings from our world-acclaimed keynote speaker, Antony Whitaker. Antony is internationally acclaimed as a gifted, multi award-winning hair stylist-turned-educator, motivator, business coach and bestselling author who was also named Australian Hairdresser of the Year twice. We are thrilled to now be able to implement Antony’s teachings in salons to provide an even better service to our 100,000 Clients across Australia and New Zealand weekly. And we’ll be taking this excellent service to the next level very soon, with an exciting digital development that we can’t wait to share with you. Find out more on page 11. We are proud to also announce that we have bought back the Just Cuts New Zealand Master Franchise, uniting both countries under our Academy head office Team in Sydney. And now that operations in our brand new JUSTICE Professional warehouse and international distribution centre have been well underway for months, we’re super excited to drive the next phase of our growth in the Southern Hemisphere and take Just Cuts to new heights with our New Zealand Teams. Speaking of heights, I’ll be ziplining between two 47-storey skyscrapers in October to help Wesley Mission raise $1 million for charity. Check out our Facebook page for photos from the day – if I’m brave enough to share them with you! Finally, as we head into the festive season, I would like to wish all our Clients, Stylists and Franchise Owners a wonderful and safe Christmas. Can you believe that Just Cuts has been in the business for 27 years now? In September, we celebrated opening 200 salons in this time with dress ups and celebrations in salons all over Australia and New Zealand. You’ll see photos of the festivities on the next few pages and get a glimpse into the kind of culture we foster at Just Cuts – one of rewarding and celebrating our Stylists’ and Franchise Owners’ amazing achievements. I couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of you. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without you! I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our first ever Franchise Owners, Leigh-Anne and Greg Brosens, who opened Just Cuts Engadine in New South Wales in 1990 and still own the salon today! And of course, I want to thank our loyal Clients in Australia and Zealand. It’s you that we do this for each and every day. You’ve grown up with Just Cuts, visiting us as children for your complimentary baby’s first haircut and now we have the privilege of seeing you bring your own children in today. JUST CUTS CELEBRATES 200 SALONS AND 27 YEARS IN FRANCHISING FROM FRIDAY 15 TO SUNDAY 17 SEPTEMBER, WE CELEBRATED A PRETTY AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT – 27 YEARS OF FRANCHISING AND 200 SALONS ACROSS AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND – WITH CELEBRATIONS TAKING PLACE IN ALL OUR SALONS. We kicked it back to the year Just Cuts Franchising all began – 1990 – with Stylists donning custom made, retro Just Cuts visors, fashion that was all the rage in the nineties, plus big hair to boot to create a unique and exciting visit for all Clients who walked through our salon doors. Just Cuts is proudly Australian owned, is the largest and most successful hairdressing company in the Southern Hemisphere and we have over 3,000 qualified hairdressers across Australia and New Zealand. This year, we opened our 200th salon in Mandurah, WA, as well as our $3 million warehouse and international distribution centre in Caringbah, NSW. We also bought back the Just Cuts New Zealand Master Franchise, uniting both countries under our Academy head office Team in Sydney. It’s a far cry from our humble beginnings with just one salon in the Sutherland Shire.

What is your favourite thing about being a Just Cuts Owner?

Sonia joined Just Cuts in 1996 as a Stylist for Monica and John at Just Cuts Woden. We purchased our first salons (Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan) in 2004 and opened Gungahlin in 2005 and Canberra Centre in 2012. What inspired you to become a business owner with Just Cuts? We always wanted to own our own business, having

We bought our first salon in 2012 in Wanganui, our home town. We ran the business while still working full time jobs. A year later we purchased Coastlands and in February 2017 we purchased New Plymouth. All three salons are located on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand What inspired you to become a business owner with Just Cuts? We were looking for a good business and the franchise system of Just Cuts impressed us, leading to the first salon purchase. While running these businesses is a full time job, it can be done with only one or two people. It is a people business so we get lots of daily interaction with Clients, Stylists, suppliers and more.
We love having the opportunity to help Team Members develop personally and professionally. We like to share our time and business knowledge with each other and always have fun with the other Franchisees. We also love the freedom to make our own business choices. What has been your highlight so far? Building our businesses, our personal growth and being acknowledged as the 2017 Franchisees of the Year. Really, we’re just grateful for everything! And your biggest challenge? Maintaining growth and sustainable businesses and motivating our Teams to create a successful future for everyone.
What is your favourite thing about being a Just Cuts Owner? There are a number of favourites: working with such good, talented Stylists and networking with the other Franchise Owners who are all so happy to share their knowledge and experiences. The Just Cuts system is so good – everything works very well. We hope to manage these businesses for many years to come and look forward to the future challenges and changes that this will bring. What has been your highlight so far? The conferences are always a highlight of the year because we hear from really inspiring speakers and we get to network with the other Franchise Owners, who always have lots of ideas for promoting the business. We love that there are always new products or systems to keep us ahead in the industry. Winning Franchisee of the Year is definitely a major highlight. And also winning both mall and business awards for the salon’s achievements and excellent customer service. And your biggest challenge? All our salons are in provincial areas, which is always a challenge when it comes to recruitment. We live in Wanganui, so our first salon is at home, but the other two are a two hour’s drive north and south. We visit them on a regular basis, but the way Just Cuts franchises work ensures that all Stylists know what is expected of them and the Team Leaders run the salons very well.

For a rounder face, keep it a little longer on top to elongate the face.
