Fordecades,wehaveengaged inaheateddebateabouttheexistenceof globalwarming. Itisdisheartening towitnessthedenialof climate changebysomeindividuals.Thisdenial beliestheurgencyand insidiousnatureof theclimatecrisisitself.
However, theevidenceof thiscrisisisundeniable. Record-breaking hurricanesand typhoonshavewreaked havocacrossbothhemispheres, oftensurpassingpreviousstormintensity. Searing heatwaveshavescorchedregionsliketheAmericanSouthwest,exacerbateddroughtsand desertificationinvariousAfricanareas,and jeopardizedglobalcropyields.Wintersincolderregionshavebecomewarmerandwetteroverthe years.
Thispieceservesasacall toaction,reflecting thestarkrealityof theseevents.Thetitle, FalsePromise,alludestothepledgemadebycountriesin theParisAgreementof 2016. Ninety-sixcountriesof theUnited Nationscommitted tochartingapathtowardeliminatingcarbonemissionsor achievingcarbonneutrality.Theobjectivewastopreventglobal temperaturesfromsurpassing 2degreesCelsiusbeforetheendof thecentury,a thresholdconsideredcritical forthesurvivalof ourcivilization.
Regrettably, itappearsthattheemissionstargetssetbythisagreementarebeingdisregardedworldwide. Itisasif theyarebeing ignored altogether.
Iurgeyoutoconsiderthesignificanceof thispieceand itsmessageasyouprepareforyourperformance. Letususeourtalentstoraiseawareness and inspireactiontocombatthispressingglobal issue.
Thepurposeof FalsePromise istoshed lightonthisinjusticethataffectseverysingleoneof usonthisplanet. I hopethatourworld’s governmentscanfindamoresuccessfulpathforward throughthiscrisis. Perhapsthissmall tubasolocanbeasmallpartof that.
