for saxophone quartet

PERUSALSCORE

Jungyoon Wie

Commissioned and premiered by the PRISM Saxophone Quartet as part of the inaugural PRISM Quartet/Donald Sinta Commissioning Award

Performances Notes:

All the pitches are based on the harmonic series of concert pitch Db rather than equal temperament.

Noise naturally created in order to move among different partials should not be removed. Playing higher partials may result in the removal of the fundamental sounding at the same time. The fundamental should come back as the partials played gradually lower in register.

Repeated notes are to be played with at least two different fingerings, whenever possible.

Aeolian effect refers to moving freely amongst different high partials at a soft dynamic level, similar to whistle tones on flute.
