Performance Notes:
General:
x noteheads found in melodic ornaments refer to touching strings lightly at a location slightly above the notated pitch, ranging from a microtone to almost a semitone higher. It mimics the human voice, creating warbled and murmuring sonority.
For noteheads without stems, performers are expected to play freely without a strong sense of time.
Cello:
Seagull effect (cello): place 4th nger lightly above the lower note and gliss downward with same spacing. is should automatically generate the seagull effects.
Commissioned and premiered by Del Sol String Quartet for the 2020 Pythagorean Pacic Music Festival

Program Note:
It is every composer's dream to write a popular tune at least once in their career, and now I can say with condence I wrote A Popular Tune...!
As a composer, I wish to write simple, beautiful, and intelligent music which can be appreciated by many people, and A Popular Tune is my another attempt to do so.
In A Popular Tune, melody repeats while background changes. Repeating melodies is often used in popular songs, and I suggest in playing this piece you may imagine as if you're the melody in different surroundings. Perhaps you like to travel, or your life went through multiple changes, or you're just like me who enjoys the sun, water, and breeze as you go about your day.
Duration: ca. 8.5 minutes
