Performance Notes

Guitar should tune 6th string down to C.

Many of these guitar gestures are based on typical ornaments played on the sitar. Pull-offs should be as sharp a possible.

Harmonics are notated at sounding pitch.

The piece begins in Raga Todi and shifts to Raga Saraswati.

Poem by Rabindranath Ragore

When death comes and whispers to me, Thy days are ended

Let me say to him, I have lived in love and not in mere time. He will ask, “ Will thy songs remain?”

I shall say I know not. But this I know, that often when I sang, I found my eternity.

Instrumentation

Tenor Guitar

Duration: 5'
