The creation of "Camperdown" (2022) was originally commissioned through the Sybarite Chamber Players LTD. for SYBARITE5’s Formative Years project.

This re-imagining for accordion quartet was created for the Bachtopus Accordion Ensemble.

Program Note

The Camperdown Elm is the oldest tree in Prospect Park. It is characterized by twisting branches that grow parallel to the ground. The musical figures in this piece are inspired by the tree and by various birds and frogs common to New York State. Some of the animals found in the piece include the green frog, bullfrog, white throated sparrow, and thrush.

Performance Note

Accordion stops are suggestions. Players should feel free to adjust reeds to suit their individual instrument, within the scope of the given timbre.

Unless indicated as “shake” tremolos should be played as finger tremolos “Shake” indicates bellows shake.
