Tempered Faults for trumpet, horn, and piano (5’) expands upon the idea of reinvention and self-discovery following a traumatic life event. This work was composed for the women of Violet Dawn as a vehicle for support and proof that sometimes going through the hardest things imaginable can create a strength within that you never thought possible.
Violet Dawn was formed in the Fall of 2025 as a chamber expansion of Mother Chaos. This ensemble contains trumpet, horn, and piano, a notoriously underrepresented ensemble grouping in chamber repertoire and features Jen Oliverio on trumpet, Katey Jahnke on horn, and Kristy Mezines on piano. This ensemble seeks to support cross-university collaboration and intends to add meaningfully to flexible repertoire for two brass instruments and piano.
