Hello!
I'm Dr. Jen Oliverio, trumpet professor, Freelancer, and Avid Brass Bander. ‘of whisps and whimsy' was written for the 2025 Eastman Summer Trumpet Institute faculty: Andrew McCandless, Wes Nance, Herb Smith, and myself.
My favorite subject matter when writing is my son’s vibrant and creative spirit. This piece was written to capture his playful nature and quick transitions from one whimsical act to another. The piece itself gives the energy of a child's nursery rhyme that transitions into a wild tantrum and back to a state of relative normalcy.
