Program Note
Groove Etude No. 2 for String Orchestra is a piece that teaches the art of playing "in the pocket." After learning the main rhythmic motif of the piece, the players should begin to feel it as it becomes a subconscious expression of their performance. Pay close attention to where the accents fall, and contrast it with the very lyrical moments which have a more legato approach.
