ASEAN Ambassadors visit EJA Accompanied by the Chargée d’Affaires of the Embassy of Singapore, Dr Tan Lian Choo, six ambassadors of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) visited the construction of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz on March 28th. The visitors were the Ambassador of Indonesia, Surdaryomo Hartosudarmo; Ambassador of Malaysia, Dato' Sudha Devi; Ambassador of the Philippines, Eva G. Betita; Ambassador of Myanmar, Thiripyanchi U Tun Nay Lin; Ambassador of Vietnam, Nguyen Van Kien and Ambassador of Thailand, PItchayaphat Charnbumidol. In addition to the visit, the ambassadors attended an EJA progress presentation conducted by Institutional Director, Ms. Luciana Sandri. Dr Tan Lian Choo of the Singapore Embassy received a commendation from Monsignor Romulo Neves Balestero in a ceremony at the Legislative Assembly of Espírito Santo.

Governor Renato Casagrande visits Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz The Governor Renato Casagrande and State Secretary of Development Nery De Rossi visited the facilities of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) on January 14th. They were welcomed by CEO of Sembcorp Marine Group Mr. Wong, EJA President Martin Cheah, EJA VicePresident Tay Wee Lye, EJA Finance Director Mr Siew Kam Onn and Institutional Director Ms. Luciana Sandri. Before visiting the construcion, the Governor and the Secretary attended a project progress presentation made by Ms. Sandri.

Government Delegation to Singapore An official Government Delegation of Espírito Santo visited the shipyards of the Sembcorp Marine Group, in Singapore, in order to see the facilities of this type of venture. The delegation was composed of ANTAQ Director, Fernando Fonseca; Deputy Secretary for Economic Development of Espírito Santo, Cristina Vellozo; Aracruz Mayor, Marcelo Coelho; Secretary for Development of Aracruz, Eugênio Cunha; Aracruz Attorney, Américo Mignone; Technicians of the Espírito Santo Institute of Environment and Water Resources; and representatives from Espírito Santo Pilotage. They were accompanied by Institutional Director, Ms. Luciana Sandri, and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager, Ms. Lani Tardin.

Port installation of EJA is authorized The Federal Government, through the Special Secretariat of Ports (SEP), authorized the Installation of Private Use Terminal (TUP) of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA). The authorization was signed on January 21th, in Brasília, by the Minister of SEP, Antonio Henrique Silveira, and EJA Finance Director, Mr. Siew Kam Onn, in the presence of EJA Institutional Director, Ms. Luciana Sandri. The authorization for installation of EJA’s TUP was one of the first awarded in Brazil.

Technical visit of Merchant Marine Fund and BNDES On February 18th, representatives of the Merchant Marine Fund, BNDES and Banco do Brasil conducted a technical visit to Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA). They were welcomed by Institutional Director, Ms. Luciana Sandri, and Finance Director, Mr. Siew Kam Onn. The group also had a presentation on the progress of the construction and visited the site.

First group of Technician Trainees returns to Brazil The first group of Technician Trainees of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) returned to Espírito Santo in February, after a year and two months of training in the naval industry in Singapore. The 23 technician trainees are graduates from the Mechanics Program of the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (Ifes) selected to participate in the Marine and Oceanic Technology Training Program at the Institute Ngee Ann and at the shipyards of Sembcorp Marine Group. The Program will last 5 years and will cost US$ 4 millions. A new group of 27 trainees embarked for Singapore on January 8th. They will undergo training, lasting 12 to 15 months, at Ngee Ann, reference in the area. Among those selected for the second group, there are graduates from mechanics courses, automation, electromechanical, electrical and civil from the campuses of Aracruz, Vitória, São Mateus, Colatina, Linhares, Serra and Guarapari.

Engineers Trainees embark to Singapore On February 19th, a group of 21 Engineers Trainees boarded to Singapore. For three months, they will receive training in the shipyards of Sembcorp Marine Group. These trainees will work in the following areas: electrical, control and automation, mechanics and production. The program developed by EJA Human Resources Department aims to develop skilled manpower trained in international standards, and provide an immersion in the culture and working practices of Singapore.

Giant Floating Crane In February, it was delivered in Japan the giant oating crane ordered by EJA. The vessel carry a Brazilian ag and will arrive in Espírito Santo in May. The crew followed the delivery ceremony of the vessel which houses the crane with capacity to lift weight of 3,600 tons, with 185 meters high, 110 meters long and 50 meters wide. EJA's crane is the largest in Latin America. Each tower weighs 1,800 tons. The crane will provide services to other companies.

Ceremony for passage of Port Captaincy Command The Port Captaincy of Espírito Santo has new Commander. Sea-andWar Captain Mr. Jayme Tavares Alves Filho took over the departmemnt on March 14th. The command was passed by the also Sea-and-War Captain Mr. Marco Antônio Ismael Trovão de Oliveira and was attended by various authorities and representatives of business and labor sectors. EJA was represented by Institutional Director Ms. Luciana Sandri. The ceremony was sponsored by EJA.

PDF/Findes Visit Fifteen businessmen and directors of the Espírito Santo Industries Federation (Findes), who are a part of the Suppliers Development Program (PDF), visited the yard on March 19th. After their visit, the group attended a presentation held by Institutional Director Ms. Luciana Sandri.

Ceremony of the Command of North Ostensive Police EJA sponsored the ceremony honoring municipal, state and federal authorities promoted by the Command of North Ostensive Police – CPO-N, on December 19th, 2013.

CPO-N acts in the north and northwest region of the state of Espírito Santo, covering 38 municipalities, operating in the area of public safety with seven operating units and a team of around 1100 state military personnel working in the operational sector.

Award ceremony of the Military Police

4th Social Coffee of Fundaes Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) sponsored the 4th Social Coffee of Espírito Santo Foundation of Federations and Associations (Fundaes) held on February 24th, in the auditorium of Public Prosecution in Vitória. EJA was represented by Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager, Lani Tardin. During the event a lecture was promoted by UFES Professor Dr. Alexandre Reis Rosa on "Intersectoral partnerships and social development process." Fundaes is part of EJA Project of Capixabas Network for Cooperation in Studies, Extension and Research on Coastal Environments (Recepac).

Jurong receives Naval Award for Quality and Sustainability The initiatives in social and environmental sustainability developed by Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) received national recognition through the Naval Award for Quality and Sustainability (PNQS). The Ceremony took place in Rio de Janeiro, in December, and had attendance of major institutions and personalities of Naval and Oil Industry. HSE Manager, Ms Lani Tardin, and Sustainability Coordinator, Ms. Aparecida Demoner, represented EJA. Created by the National Union of Construction and Ship Repair and Offshore Industry (Sinaval) and by ARO Foundation, the award aims to recognize and disseminate initiatives of companies in the sector, presenting corporate ethics, environmental, social and economic value.

Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz was awarded in the category Path to Innovation and Sustainable Development (CIDeS).

Jurong deploys cultivation of oysters and seaweed in Aracruz The project of cultivation of oysters and seaweed focused for the fishing community is being implemented in Aracruz by Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA). The objective is to generate income for families of artisanal fishers, diversifying activities through environmentally responsible systems. The implementation of the oysters and algae production system will be fully sponsored

by EJA, which will also be responsible for the technical training of those involved. Inspired by programs in other States Brazilian states like Pernambuco, Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro and Ceará, besides the economic benefit, the project has among its objectives the biodiversity conservation of the ecosystems, especially coastal mangroves.

Production of oysters

Jurong and Conservation Units promote educational campaign on the beaches Educate residents and tourists about the importance of environmental conservation in the region, valuing biodiversity and ensuring sustainable use of natural resources was the aim of the educational campaign on the beaches of algae coast and Environmental Protection Area (APA) and Wildlife Refuge (SVR) of Santa Cruz. The action took place during the summer in the municipalities of Serra, Fundão and Aracruz, with participation of volunteers from the surrounding community. Educational materials were distributed to the beaches' goers, whom also received guidance on preservation of environment.

The campaign is an initiative of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), with logistical support from Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz.
