Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz present in OTC President of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA), Martin Cheah, and Institutional Director, Luciana Sandri, attended from May 6 to 9 2013, the Ocean Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas, United States. During the event, the CEO and President of Sembcorp Marine, Wong Weng Sun, presented a lecture on the theme “Considerations regarding to the demands of the Industry of Oil & Gas ”. Sembcorp Marine celebrated, during the OTC, 50 years of existence of the group. OTC is the biggest event in the oil and gas industry and offshore development, bringing together representatives from 200 countries.The pre-salt of Brazil was the highlight of OTC being widely reported in the international press. The Sembcorp Marine Group and EJA were the subject of reports of newspapers: Offshore Engineer and OTC Daily Show.

Jurong performs work of the Access Road

Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) signed on April 22, 2013, at Palácio Anchieta, in Vitória (ES), the contract with Construtora CR Almeida and EMPA for the building of the south quay and south finger pier. The contract was signed by the President of EJA, Martin Cheah, and business representatives of CR Almeida, Luiz Augusto Pozzobom, and of Empa, Luis Augusto Tavares Moreira da Silva, in the presence of the Governor Renato Casagrande. The south quay will be 250 meters in length and the south finger pier will be 407 meters of length. The period of completion is 20 months from the date of signing of the contract. The south quay will begin operations later this year when the construction of the first drilling rig of the brazilian pre-salt will begin.

Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) finalized the temporary access road to the site entrance. To do so, EJA signed a commitment agreement with Transpetro for use of the pipeline easement strip. On March 4, Transpetro released the area for construction of the access road. Sign posts were placed on site. Through our permanent communication channel with the community around the shipyard, EJA staff is conducting meetings with community leaders clarifying the progress, evaluating the impacts and adopting mitigating measures.
