Directors of Petrobras and Sete Brasil visit EJA A group of about "fty engineers of Petrobras, led by Director Figueiredo, and representatives of Sete Brasil, visited the construction site of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz, in Barra do Sahy.

They were welcomed by Sembcorp Marine Group CEO, Mr. Wong, and the president of EJA, Martin Cheah. After the visit, a seminar was held with the presentation of the progress of the construction and the contract of the seven rigs acquired by Sete Brasil.

Sembcorp Marine Director visits EJA The Sembcorp Marine Director, Mr. Lim Ah Doo, visited on January 11 the EJA's of"ces and the construction site area in Barra do Sahy. Mr. Lim was welcomed by the president of EJA, Martin Cheah, and Institutional Director, Luciana Sandri, who presented the current progress of the construction and development projects in the communities surrounding the project. This is the second visit of Mr. Lim to Espírito Santo.

A committee of 22 people, including businessmen and representatives of Findes, and Sindifer PDF (Supplier Development Program of Espírito Santo) visited the Jurong Shipyards in Singapore on Nov. 26, 2012. The group was accompanied by the Institutional Director of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz, Luciana Sandri. The capixabas had the opportunity to meet several vendors in Singapore, and learn about the naval technology availability and the demands needed to attend to the capacity of companies holding technology in Process Fabrication of equipment, Installation and Industrial Maintenance and engineering projects. Additionally, the group could evaluate the prospects for the sector. The objective of the mission is to attract partnerships for technology development in Espírito Santo. The agenda also included a visit to the 19th Oil and Gas Industry Conference (OSEA 2012 - Energizing Asia) at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, where Institutional Director of EJA, Luciana Sandri, was a guest speaker representing Espírito Santo.

Brazilian Trainees arrived in Ngee Ann Nineteen (19) students from the mechanics course of IFES (Federal Institute of Espírito Santo), selected by Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) to participate in the Educational Quali"cation Program for training in the area of Marine and Offshore Technology,travelled last January 2nd to Singapore. They were accompanied by Human Resources Manager, Lucila Lopes. Altogether 23 students were selected from Current Final Year Students and Recent Graduates of the IFES mechanics course from three campuses located in the cities of Aracruz, Vitória and São Mateus. Four students of the Integrated System, who have not yet completed the course, will go to Singapore in April, along with three teachers from IFES. Before starting the six months course in Naval and Oceanic Technology at the Ngee Ann Institute, this group will undergo an intensive three months Technical English Course. Later these students will have internships at Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. Upon their return to Brazil, the students will work at Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz.

The training will last 12 to 15 months

Training of manpower for EJA In 2012, EJA matriculated 713 people of the community in a professional education program. Of this total, 392 places were offered in courses aimed at training the local manpower to work in phase of the shipyard operation. During the program, there was courses as welder, electrical, industrial automation, mechanic of industrial maintenance, maintenance electrician, heavy equipment operator, plumber, industrial painter, master worker, hydraulic installer and coppersmith, among others.

Local entrepreneurs "lled the auditorium

Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) organizes Seminar for Local Suppliers On December 7th, 2012, a total of 373 entrepreneurs from Aracruz participated in the 1st Vendor Seminar of Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) at the First Baptist Church of Aracruz. The event was attended by local of"cials, representatives of Findes System, Sindifer, CDMEC, PDF, Sebrae, Amear, CDL, Residents Associations and the local press, among others. The purpose of the meeting was to promote business opportunities and the supply of products and services by local businesses. The Institutional Director of EJA, Luciana Sandri, presented information on the current development and progress of the Shipyard Construction. The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager, Lani Tardin, clari"ed information related to the Environmental Conditions and the Social projects that are being developed by EJA and the local communities surrounding the company. The representative of the Procurement Department of EJA, Fabio Mourão, explained the Procurement Process at EJA so that local businesses have the opportunity to provide services to EJA. After the presentations, a business networking session was held.

The Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) was represented at the II Brazilian Congress of Environmental Reforestation, held in Guarapari last October, with the poster presentation themed "EJA's Recovery Plan for degraded areas of Native Indian Villages of Aracruz."

The poster promoted the recovery plan for an area of 57 hectares by planting 82,631 native species of the Atlantic Forest, such as: yellow and pink ipes trees and Brazilwood, among others. The authors are Marcelo Simonelli, André Alves, Julio Dalla and Antônio Moreira.

Sembcorp Marine con!rms seventh contract of US$ 806.4 million Sembcorp Marine Ltd, through its subsidiary Jurong Offshore Pte Ltd, con"rmed a contract of a drillship valued at US$ 806.4 million, with Sete Brasil Participações S.A. (Sete Brasil), for the design and construction of a drillship based on the design of the Jurong Espadon drillship of Jurong Shipyard. This unit is the seventh in a series of drillships that Sembcorp Marine's subsidiary con"rmed since February 2012. Including the six drillships that were announced on February 6 and August 8 of last year, the seven drillships will be built based on the design of Jurong Espadon, which represents the next generation of high speci"cation drillships with an advanced capability and ef"ciency of operating in ultra-deep waters worldwide. The seventh unit of the drillships is scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2016. These seven drillships for drilling in ultra deep water, with deliveries Espadon Jurong: high speci"cation drillship between the second half of 2015 and 2019, will be the "rst drillships to be built in Brazil to supply the oil and gas that were discovered in the giant pre-salt "elds in the Santos basin. After delivery, the seven drillships will be chartered by Petrobras for 15 years.

EJA commences construction of the breakwater

The company Carioca was hired by Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) to build the breakwater. The kick off meeting was held in November 2012. The transportation of the stones is being done through the northbound highways BR-101, ES-445 and ES-010. The work began in December 2012. For the "rst parts of the construction, Carioca is installing the weighing scales, building their work site, acquiring equipment and presenting their work plan. Carioca's work site is 30 square meters with an area to deposit the stones. The buildings at their work site will consist of a warehouse, cafeteria, workshop, locker room, ambulatory, storage area of rocks and installation of the weighing scale. The Carioca team has presented their integrated Health, Safety, and Environment management plan. The company is quali"ed in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, certi"ed in QSMS class A / BR TUV Integrated Management System Certi"cation.

Public hearing of Neighborhood Impact Study (EIV) of EJA Julio Dalla

The city hall of Aracruz and Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) promoted on December 20 a public hearing to present to the community EJA's Neighborhood Impact Study (EIV). The event was held at the Arca Praiana at Barra do Sahy, Aracruz. The Institutional Director of EJA, Luciana Sandri, and HSI, Lani Tardin, presented the project, the positive "nancial impacts by hiring labor and the supply chain process. After showcasing the institutional video, the representative of Atena Consulting, Isaías Caliman Buffon, explained the EIV, highlighting the social and environmental impacts in Aracruz, with the shipyard installation, in the areas of health, sanitation, and overall infrastructure.
