As the following year unfolded, Corinne eagerly embraced the challenge of leading a fundraising campaign for the Jingle Bell Bachelor Bash. Guided by her Chair's inspiration, set her sights on, and achieved, a record-breaking goal. The League year drew to a close in June 2017, and Corinne eagerly anticipated what the future held.

MEMBER’S STORY

NAVIGATING TURBULENCE AND THE BOND OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT Unexpected Orders: A Sudden Call to Italy In mid-June, an urgent call from Corinne's Navy specialty leader and detailer disrupted her plans. "Pack your bags; we need you in Italy in two weeks," they urged. The sudden reassignment presented a challenge, but in true military fashion, Corinne swiftly prepared for the relocation, working tirelessly to secure a pack-out date and travel orders.

Amidst the whirlwind of events, Corinne vividly recalls her Junior League mentor, Mary, arriving at her Little Italy building as movers packed up her belongings. Waiting for a plane ticket to Italy and constrained by budget issues, she found herself living out of suitcases. It was during this uncertain time that her Junior League sisters provided unwavering support. Offering rooms, helping her sell her car, and driving her to the airport, Michelle and Vanessa became her lifelines. The camaraderie and friendship within the Junior League were invaluable during those chaotic days.

CELEBRATING DIVERSE ABILITIES ARTIST SHOWCASE ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

In a celebration of talent, inclusion, and empowerment, the Junior League of San Diego (JLSD) hosted an exclusive Artist Showcase on December 3, 2023, in honor of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event took place at our headquarters in the Bankers Hill area, San Diego, offering a dynamic display of artistic expressions featuring the talents of differently-abled artists from our local community. The event began with an exclusive invitation extended to attendees, offering a unique opportunity to witness the captivating artworks spanning various mediums. From riveting canvas art to intricate crochet, ceramics, textiles, and more, the Artist Showcase featured the remarkable talents that often go unseen. One of the distinctive aspects of this Showcase was its commitment to ensuring that each artist received 100% of the proceeds from the sale of their artwork. This not only highlights the League's dedication to supporting the local artist community but also underscores the San Diego community's commitment to valuing and celebrating the unique contributions of its members.
