Enrollment Philosophy
Scholarships
The Office of Admission reviews student applications holistically. In addition to close evaluation of the high school transcript, essay, recommendation letters, and the informal interview, counselors review student engagement both inside and outside their school community.
Juniata offers an array of competitive scholarships that recognize the outstanding achievements of incoming students without regard to financial need. Academic Scholarships reward students who do well academically, but also contribute to their school and community by getting involved. For most scholarships at Juniata, the application for admission is all that is necessary. These scholarships range from $10,000 to $30,000. Additional merit scholarships could be awarded between $1,000–$3,000.
Juniata accepts AP credit if the student scores a 4 or 5 on the Advanced Placement exam. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma recipients are granted credit for one full year (30 credits) toward a degree at Juniata. Students who have an IB Diploma normally enter the College with sophomore standing. IB certificate recipients may receive course credit for each higher level examination passed with a score of 5 or higher.
Other opportunities exist for high-achieving students. National Merit and National Achievement Finalists have the opportunity to earn a John Stauffer Scholarship, which is an additional scholarship valued at $2,500. To be considered for all additional scholarships, students must apply by January 5.

A preferred minimum TOEFL score of 80 iBT or equivalent result is required. Proof of English language instruction will be considered for students not meeting preferred minimum scores. International students are eligible for merit-scholarships, which often total from $2,000 to $25,000 per year. Our scholarships for international students are based on their application for admission. We also offer small need-based grants to help with the total cost of attendance.

Ninety percent of Juniata graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation. They work at companies like Disney, GEICO, Google, NBC Universal, and Vanguard and pursue master’s degrees, law degrees, medical degrees, MBAs, and doctorates at some of the nation’s top graduate schools, including Cornell, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Princeton, Stanford, and the University of Pennsylvania.
At Juniata, 93 percent of faculty hold the highest degree in their field. The success of Juniata students is linked directly to Juniata’s strong, dedicated faculty who consider teaching and advising their primary responsibilities.
All Juniata graduates join the Alumni Association, which is an enthusiastic group numbering more than 15,000 members. Over 1,300 of these alumni are currently engaged in volunteering and sharing their career experience.
