Our Mission The Office of Student Financial Planning is dedicated to helping students and their families manage the costs of a Juniata education through scholarships, grants, partnership, and information about other resources and means by which the cost of education can be met.

We assist every family, not only those who need help funding student aspirations. Our assistance is available at any time and continues through graduation. Our goal is to help families plan for the student’s entire education at Juniata.

My Scholarship Story I came to Juniata to study marine biology and felt at home from my very first visit. But, cost was a big concern for my family: my mom is a single mom, my sister is also in college, and, when I enrolled at Juniata, our family was caring for my grandpa. My Juniata admission counselor advised me to share all of this with financial planning and it helped me secure an additional scholarship!

Because of my scholarship, I don’t have to get an extra job and I am already conducting research with Chris Grant, assistant professor of biological research, running tests on fish, critiquing other students’ research papers, and looking at specimens under a microscope.

uniata offers an array of competitive scholarships that recognize the outstanding achievements of incoming students without regard to financial need. Academic scholarships at Juniata reward students

who do well academically, but also contribute to their school and community by getting involved. For all merit scholarships at Juniata, your application enters you into consideration. Juniata’s academic scholarships range from $24,000 to $31,000. Awards remain with you for each of your four years of attendance.

When I was looking at colleges, I realized that anywhere I’d go, I was going to be investing a lot. I have four brothers: three are in college and Joel (pictured) also attends Juniata. Thankfully, Juniata offered me scholarships that made it possible for me to attend. In fact, Juniata not only offered me scholarships—they had more to offer in terms of hands-on experience, a supportive community, and the talented professors.

In life, there are a lot of things we do on faith. Becoming a parent is an act of faith. Investing is an act of faith. We take leaps of faith with the intention that there will be more good in the outcome of our investment than what we put in at the beginning of our journeys. I invest in Juniata because I know I’m helping to make a better future. At Juniata, our students contribute more because of the exceptional education they receive. Our graduates become the best teachers, scientists, and researchers because we provide student support beyond scholarships.

Eric Jensen recently retired from his position as senior research fellow at Eli Lilly and Company. He serves as a trustee to Juniata College, contributes to the College’s Annual Fund, has supported building projects including the new Kepple Integrated Media and Studio Arts Building and the renovation of Founders Hall, and has created the Jensen Family Endowment, a fund that provides start-up funds for new faculty members in the physical and biological sciences at Juniata.

Affording Juniata

When my daughter, Chelsea, was looking for a college, we visited many schools. When we visited Juniata and Chelsea sat in on a class, I knew she had made up her mind. The look on Chelsea’s face said it all and it didn’t take her long to say, “Mom, this is it.”

I was overwhelmed, thinking we couldn’t afford Juniata. But before the day was over, my husband and I were sitting in a breakout group with a representative from Juniata’s Financial Planning Office who told us about different loans and spelled out a variety of types of aid. Having the ability to talk one-onone with an aid counselor brought me relief.

Over the years, I have called Juniata’s Financial Planning Office many times and I feel so comfortable talking with the counselors there. They always explain things in a way I can understand. I never feel as if I’m bothering someone—I feel like we’re partners in the financial planning process.

Chelsea has received a tremendous education from Juniata and I know it is because she was supported right from the start of her college career. I felt it as well— contact Juniata and experience the sincerity of working with their counselors for yourself.
