more detailed idea of what the environmental health of the area as a whole. Information in this section enables us to evaluate how to design the street with sustainable solutions that has resistance to future natural events.

Stormwater catch basin The stormwater catch basin data for the 3rd Ave street intersections shows that the number of catch basins varies, indicating different levels of flood risk. Intersections with a higher number of catch basins, such as Atlantic, Butler, and Union, are at a higher risk of flooding and have more mitigation measures in place. In contrast, intersections with a lower number of catch basins, such as Bergen and Sackett, are at a relatively lower risk of flooding. The number of catch basins at most intersections is moderate, suggesting a moderate level of flood risk.

In this section, we have included a detailed plan and section view of our street corridor. This includes information on the curb line, sidewalks, pavement markings, medians, bus stops, subway and commuter rail entrance locations, building lines, vegetation/tree locations, street furniture, stormwater grates, streetlights, signals, elevated tracks or roadways, and column locations for elevated structures. We have also provided measurements for the roadway (curb to curb), lane

widths, sidewalk widths, curb radii, and sidewalk choke point width, as well as the street names and labels/callouts of features. Additionally, we have included a north arrow and scale, and a key/legend to interpret the features.

The design proposal involves relocating the active industrial zone underground and constructing residential buildings above. By moving industrial operations to the basements, trucks can load and unload without disrupting traffic. Above ground, parks would replace streets, creating a green corridor from the Gowanus Canal to Barclays Center.

06/Re-design

The heavy north-south traffic would be redirected to Fourth Avenue, while Third Avenue would only handle east-west traffic. The design also proposes extending the canal to flow into the Atlantic Avenue train station, providing a slower, more peaceful transportation option. This would bring additional recreational and commercial activities to the neighborhood, enhancing connections between Barclays Center and the Boerum Hill residential area.
