Air Fryer Falafel

A popular Arabic snack

Ingredients:

• 1 cup dried chickpeas, soaked overnight

• 1/2 large onion, roughly chopped

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

• 1 teaspoon ground cumin

• 1 teaspoon ground coriander

• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

• Salt and black pepper to taste

• 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (optional)

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• Olive oil, for brushing

Instructions:

1. Preheat your Philips Air Fryer to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a food processor, combine the soaked chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture becomes a coarse paste.

3. Transfer the falafel mixture to a bowl. If the mixture is too wet, add flour until it reaches a consistency that holds together. Add baking powder and mix well.

4. Shape the mixture into small balls or patties, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.

5. Place the falafel in the Air Fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between them.

6. Lightly brush the falafel with olive oil.

7. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for about 15-18 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

8. Once done, remove the falafel from the Air Fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve the Air Fryer falafel with tahini sauce, hummus, or your favorite dipping sauce. You can also stuff them into pita bread with fresh vegetables for a delicious falafel sandwich. Enjoy your Arabic-inspired Air Fryer falafel!

Maamoul Cookies

Delightful Ramadan Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

• 3 cups semolina flour

• 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

• 1 cup powdered sugar

• 1/4 cup rose water or orange blossom water

• 1/4 cup milk

Instructions:

Making the Dough:

For the Filling:

• 1 cup dates, pitted and finely chopped

• 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped

• 2 tablespoons honey

• 1 teaspoon cinnamon

1. In the Smeg Stand Mixer bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Cream them together using the paddle attachment until light and fluffy.

2. Add the semolina flour to the creamed butter and sugar mixture. Mix on low speed until the dough starts to come together.

3. Pour in the rose water (or orange blossom water) and milk. Continue mixing until a soft dough forms.

4. Remove the dough from the mixer and shape it into a ball. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

5. In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped dates, chopped walnuts, honey, and cinnamon. This will be your filling.

6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

7. Take a small portion of the dough and shape it into a small disk or ball. Make an indentation in the center using your thumb or a tool designed for maamoul.

8. Spoon a small amount of the date and walnut filling into the indentation.

9. Enclose the filling by bringing the edges of the dough together and sealing it well.

10. Place the filled maamoul cookies on the prepared baking sheet.

11. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
