PA R K N E LE VAT E Course - Arch Design V Prof. Jeremy Voorhees Email: jeremy.voorhees@temple.edu Semester - Fall 2021 Site - Vine st Expressway, Philadelphia, PA

This connection of buildings, which form on either side of the track, includes a recreational center and a multi-use garage. Located on the Vine street expressway, these centers are on a capped section. Park N Elevate helps solve the problem of excess parking lots located in Chinatown and Callow Hill and provides spaces of activity due to a lack of availability. The parking garage removes parking lots from its surrounding context and allows turning those initial parking lots

4

into more open spaces. The Recreational Center contains many different programs sufficient for different types of people. A track is elevated to unify both the rec center and the parking garage.

H I G H R I S E S T UDIO TOWER Course - Architecture Design IV Prof. Alfred Dragani Email: alfred.dragani@temple.edu Semester - Spring 2020 Site - 16th St and S Spruce ST, Philadelphia, PA

The High-rise Studio Tower is the final project on 16th and Spruce st. The tower is an eight-level high-rise residential building that features five studio apartments. Within these apartments are Mezzanine’s, a basement, and a sky garden located on top of the building. The High-rise uses a double-skin façade, which is a perforated wall spanning the face of the building with a curtain wall behind it. The operable windows promote airflow on the south facade,

10

and wind penetrates the perforations. In addition, this double-skin facade helps to reduce direct sunlight from the South. Located on the East and West side of the building is a louvre system blocking direct sunlight. The structure is comprised of CLT panels and timber construction. This project aims to design a self-sufficient high-rise building with a well-developed structural system.

B ROA D U N IFICAT IO N Course - Foundation for Architects I Prof. Sasha maxwell Email: sasha.maxwell@temple.edu Semester - Fall 2019 Site - N Broad Street

Broad St, North of Temple University, can be a dangerous place for individuals to venture through. The area contains a few spots to eat and education centers all around. Users may be attracted to the site and its surroundings, but the journey through the area feels unsafe.

The threshold in front of the structure serves as a beacon for Threshold + Forum Movement individuals, and the pentagon modules represent individuals gathering. Behind that, the forum is used as a space for users to gather. This is displayed as a Movement tall curvilinear structure. Constant Pause

To solve this security issue, individuals need to collaborate and make connections. Typically, when navigating through an unfamiliar area, you feel insecure when alone. The Broad St unification solves this issue.

Sea Level Year - 2070

This Climate change institute is an institutional building situated on a pier. The building works with the rising sea levels, which will continue for the next 100 years. It utilizes the water to enhance the user experience, while ensuring the building will remain accessible. The first part of the project was the site design. Designing solutions to bring individuals

to the pier is crucial, as it has been disconnected from Philadelphia. There is an emphasis on designing for the individuals using the building, whether it is the individual working there or tourists coming to visit. The next step is developing a building that works with the site while considering sea-level rise.
