PASSIVE SPACE Course: Vis Lit For Architects II Year: Spring 2019
“ Architecture is about experience: not only visual but also what you can touch, what you can feel. -Ma Yansong The following project is all about mastering how an individuals experience is affected by the space. The project also utilizes natural light and shadow to bring life to the space. Rhino 3D was utilized to create a computer model. In addition, the model itself was created out of foam core and museum board. The jewel was 3D printed using the CURA software.

Initially a jewel was created using boolean operations. A structure was needed to contain the jewel. Utilizing measurements from Rhino 3-D a physical model was created . Initially the Jewel was 3-D printed using CURA.

Foam board was used as support to keep the structure standing, while matte board was used for all the other parts of the structure. The space was cut in half to emphasize the different spaces within the structure . The holes brought in natural light to bring life. An individual is free to walk around the space and interact with the Jewel.

SUN & SHADOW Course: Vis Lit For Architects I Year: Fall 2017
To understand a structure one must understand how the sun affects a space. As well as the effect of the space in the sun’s absence. In this project a pavilion is created to understand how the sun affects the space.

The space was an abstraction of a ribcage of a dinosaur. The bristol board was the structure of the pavilion while the news print was used as the skin. The foundation was abstracted from a rock formed a hierarchy. While the charcoal represented the light produced during the night time.

This was made out of card board. The final drawing captured the shadows and light. The hatch represented the shadows during the day. While the charcoal represented the light produced during the night time.

LIGHT & SHADOW Course: Vis Lit For Architects I Year: Fall 2017
How can we understand form? Shadows, and Light are two fundamental concepts to understand form. Light travels in straight lines , shadows are produced when lights hit an object that isn’t transparent. It’s more like a dark projection of the object. In this project the shadows and light are utilized to bring life to the form. The model was created using a piece of bristol. The bristol was cut and formed the models.

The light was adjusted at certain points to find a unique position to emphasize the shadows on the object. Drawings were created of the object, a hatch was used to portray the shadows.

SCREEN WALL Course: Vis Lit For Architects I Year: Fall 2017 Teammates: Kirah Brown, Abhiram Alla Buildings aren’t created just for no reason. Anything created often has a purpose. It maybe a building intended for office work or one for residential use. With these two examples the buildings serve a purpose. Narrative is and important concept to giving meaning to architecture. In this project the wall is represents a narrative. The wall was created with card board as the modules, and dowels to link the modules together.

The wall is meant to signify an argument where one individual is dominating the other. The open side of the wall is the individual controlling the argument while the other signifies the individual losing the argument.

Wall modules were cut out of card board and put together. The modules were binded with smaller dowels. After creation of the wall drawings were made to create a further understanding.

ABSTRACTED GEOMETRY Course: Vis Lit For Architects II Year: Spring 2019
Often whatever we design or create is considered an abstraction of our idea. In this project a synthetic formation was taken and abstracted to create a unique design. A cracked T.V. Screen was cropped to form transformations to create a unique form. Rhino 3D was utilized to create a model out of the transformations. The model itself was laser cut and studied to create drawings.

The initial image was of a cracked TV. Screen. The screen went through various reflections to create the process image. Line work of the process image was exported to rhino 3D to be laser cut and to understand the shadows. After this step Rhino 3D was used to create drawings.

“The interaction of knowledge and experience is key to learning. -John Dewey After learning various architectural concepts, such as experience, and space. This project demonstrates all the conceptual and technical skills that I have learned. A movement study was conducted to understand how the body moves through out a space. A choreography was used to create a pattern. From the pattern models were created to replicate the pattern. In addition, the pattern was used to create a space.

understand how an individual moves and interacts with the stairs. A movement study of an individual was also conducted to create a movement going up the stairs. This became the core concept of the project.

BROAD U N I F I C AT I O N Course: Foundation for Arch Design I Year: Spring 2019
One fundamental aspect to architecture is how a building is relative to its environment. How the building affects the area it is built in. In this project we discover a problem within borad street and design a forum to help solve this problem. My problem was how individuals feel unsafe when walking in certain parts of broadstreet philadelphia. This space was the best solution to help bring people together and promote safety.
