Communication-weloveit,wantmoreofit,and mostofusthinkwedoitwell.Theinherentflawinthis beliefisweoftencommunicatethroughourlensand donotfullyconsiderhowothersreceiveandprocess informationEversaidtosomeone,“didn’tItellyou that,orremember,Itoldyou?”Ifyouareanythinglike me,you’vesaidthosewordsatleastathousand timesjusttoyourspouse!Andsoitgoes,andwelook forwaystoimproveourcommunicationsand reinforceourmessages.

MaymarksthelaunchofourfirstQuarterlyFowler Communication,toaideindeliveringconsistentand clearmessaging,aswellasgiveinsighttothe amazingthingshappeningthroughoutour community.Whileweareaccustomedtoour programspecificcommunications,Fowlerhasgreat thingshappeningthroughoutcampusandwe thoughteveryonewouldenjoythebird’seyeviewofit all.Also,havinganewslettertorevisithelpsusallto understandandretaincommunicationsmoreclearly.

Ourdesignwasthecreativecollaborationofsome extremelytalentedmembersofourteam,PamCoit, CourtneeLocke,JamieRodgersandZoeeSwan.They wereaskedtocometogetherandsolveaproblem. IamChaplainMikeWright-Chapman,thenewest memberoftheSpiritualLifestaffatFowler.Iama lifelongTexan,borninFortWorthandraisedin Crowley,wheremyfamilywasactiveatFirstUnited MethodistChurch.Itwastherethatpastorsand teachersencouragedmetoactonacallto ministryIwasvoicing.Aftergraduatingfrom CrowleyHighSchool,IearnedaBachelorofArtsin Humanities-ReligionatTexasWesleyan,anda MasterofArtsinChristianEducationatScarritt GraduateSchoolinNashville,Tennessee.Following graduationfromScarrittin1987,IreturnedtoTexas astheMinisterofYouthatFirstUnitedMethodist ChurchinWichitaFalls,whereImetKathy,a ReadingSpecialistandLanguageArtsTeacher.This JulyKathyandIwillcelebrate35yearsofmarriage andweliveinArlington.

ConnieHerrera,aresidentofThePeak,hada30-yearcareerinradiobeforemovingto Fowler Shefirstarrivedasapart-timeemployeeandimmediatelyfellinlovewiththe residentsandthecommunity.Conniethentookafull-timepositionastheActivities DirectorattheJacksonLivingCenter Hercoworkerswouldoftensaytheywouldliveat Fowleroncetheyretired,andConnieaddedthatsheandherhusband,Steve,wouldlive atFowleroncetheywerereadytodownsize.

Unfortunately,herhusbandpassed,soshehadtoconsiderdownsizingandmoving fromtheirsharedhome Connieknewherhousewastoobigforonepersonandtheir littleYorkie‘Izzy’.Shewantedaccesstoacommunitythatofferedsocialactivitieswhen shewasready.

Connie'sjourneybacktoJulietteFowlerCommunitiesdidn'tgoasplanned,butshe knewJulietteFowlerCommunitieswaswhereshewantedtobe SheheardaboutThe Peak,anewexpansionatJulietteFowlerCommunitieswith144apartments. Although Conniewasinterestedinanapartmentthatfaceddowntown,shemissedthe opportunity.However,nowherviewisWoodrowWilsonHighSchool,whereherhusband Steveattended.“Ihaveaniceviewandcanhearthebirdschirpinginthemorning”, Conniesaid
