As we look back on the past 20 months, we are overwhelmed by the generosity and love that was shared with us at Fowler. Thank you for sharing your gifts and blessings during such a critical time. You lovingly cared for 711 children, youth, and aging adults in 2020 and your support transformed lives.

• 115 children and youth found safety and shelter • 596 aging adults were protected and loved by our staff while receiving quality innovative care • 756 hours of virtual programming was implemented • 730 hours of music and art brought joy and connection to those living with dementia • 572 hours of worship, bible study and spiritual support created comfort and hope The pandemic had the potential of harming our vulnerable children, youth, and elders. Philanthropy is a cornerstone of Juliette Fowler Communities. Born from a single bequest of land and money from Juliette Peak Fowler, Juliette Fowler Communities has been blessed by the generosity of others, which has sustained and advanced our mission. For almost 130 years, thousands of elders, children, youth and families have been served through faithful support. The numbers below reflect your response to our great need in 2020. Challenging Year Brought Many Blessings Juliette Fowler Communities found much to celebrate despite 2020 challenges. The dream to serve “The Forgotten Middle” became a reality when Fowler was awarded tax-credit financing after a competitive application process. The Peak at Fowler will include one hundred forty-four apartments and will offer individuals with modest incomes a welcoming neighborhood of friends with the many benefits of living in community. Donors provided more than $2.7 million for the $24 million project and will continue to fund programming and service coordination.

Fowler Assisted Living achieved the rigorous recertification as an I’m Still Here® Center of Excellence in Dementia Care.

One of only two communities in Texas with this prestigious designation, Fowler’s philosophy of care for the entire community has been aligned with these core principles: 1). You are an individual 2). You have purpose 3). Creativity is within 4). Learning is essential.

I’m Still Here® training for staff was extended to family members, residents, and volunteers. Training and full implementation was 100% donor funded.

Fowler team members proved to be fierce in their dedication to their residents and each other. For the third year in a row, Fowler was chosen as a Great Place to Work, ranking #17 in the United States in the Aging Services Industry for small and medium-sized organizations. Our team members responded to more than 60 survey questions and emphatically stated “My work has special meaning; it’s not just a job!”

In October 2020, Fowler opened a new Youth Support Center to be a onestop solution providing counseling, coaching, mentorships, education, and life skills programming to help youth (both male and female) ages 12-24 escape or avoid trafficking and exploitation. Located next to the Ebby House in the former Partners Building, the YSC was completely renovated to be welcoming, including hand painted panels of inspiration. The YSC was destroyed in the winter storm and now lives on the first floor of The Ebby House and is 100% dependent of donor support.
