The advancement of technology has also forced schools to re-think their school environments, incorporating new initiatives and encouraging more handson learning through tools like virtual reality (VR) goggles and touchscreen blackboards. According to EdTech Magazine, “The concept ofthe modern learning environment is beginning to chan ge with school districts attempting to align their physical spaces with contemporary pedagogical philosophy”.
For obvious reasons, bullying tends to happen when there is no adult supervision, in places like stairwells and quiet hallways. As such, there’s a need to create transparent spaces and more open planning where students are visible at all times, protecting vulnerable students from bullies and to creating more visibility if there is a dangerous shooter in the vicinity. David Stephen, an educator, architect and founder of New Vista Designs for Learning, said, “The old layouts present an anonymous kind of situation, and it’s easy for bullying to take place in those spaces. It’s much safer to have more visual interconnectivity because you have lots of sets of adult eyes connecting with kids around the school.” Huckabee architecture firm designed and installed floor-to-ceiling glass classroom walls at Annie Purl Elementary School, where each academic wing features classrooms that connect to a central collaboration space and a teacher design lab. This allows teachers and administrators to see kids in the classroom, collaboration space, or corridor from nearly every spot in the learning environment.
Spaces that stand the test of time: The architects explained the need to create sustainable and flexible spaces so that as technology, curricula and pedagogies change over time, buildings can provide the necessary support. Flexibility in spaces is key to meeting the everyday needs of educators, so environments can be quickly altered to keep up with current trends. “Lightweight chairs, beanbags, area rugs, tables of different heights, and even movable or foldable walls can transform alcoves into quiet reading spaces, which can in turn be modified to suit project-based learning or direct instruction.”
- The SITE is located at close proximity to various amenities especially to the transport network and residential area
- Theres’s a police station right opposite to the site making the environment around the site very safe and very low crime rate.
- Noise levels near the area is pretty low
- The bus stop is right next to the site.
- The natural contours of the site makes the site non-susceptible to flooding, directing it toward the main manhole outside the site.
- There are no IB schools near the area.
- There is a transformer adjacent to the site making it easier to layout power lines.
- There is already trees and greenery present in the site.
- The demography of children in and around Hadapsar is comparatively higher than the number of schools that are already existing.
- The site is located in a developing area and is included in the smartcity tender.
- The is located beside a main road.
- Site is adjacent to a discontinuous street.
- Site is also adjacent to a banquet hall therefore during function hours, the street will be packed.
- Multi-user pathways for both pedestrian and vehicular movement.
- There are two other primary schools located very close to the site.
The flower that represents encouragement and growth is SOLIDAGO and they have a long bloom period that start from late summer to the first. typically grows out like a weed- tall, rapid and stronger than most flowers. They grow in open woodlands and fields, especially where the soil is dry and sunlight plentiful.
The above picture shows the growth of the flower and in a simple geometrical perspective, deducing the form.
I have chosen flower as my theme because the site that I’ve chosen is recognized by its native flower - gulmmohar. I wanted to continue the theme that was running through out the township.
These are the type of flowers that are opportunists, able to crop up where other plants cannot grow and to thrive despite drastic changes in the landscape. After a forest fire, the appearance of goldenrod plants is often one of the first signs that the woods are coming back to life.
Based on child psychology that mostly focuses on the lead as to why bullying starts and how the environment and the built form affects us. It states that a built form which evokes a creative and curious mind would keep fain from many an idle thoughts, and this can be achieved by experimental learning by granting the child access to having the hands on experience while they learn. The sustainable built-form would encourage the child to be more aware and responsible as citizens of the earth.
Since the site is in close proximity to all the required amenities for a school (institution) infrastructure. The secondary roads will be serving as the main entrances as the heavy traffic flows on the primary roads. Due to its location opposite to Police Station, the crime rate in that arena is reduced by 95%. Now even though it’s a discontinuous road a child can be free to run around the corner as we have made the study on defensive architecture. The ideal thing to design when designing conducive environment is to provide various buffer zones and inclusive zones. To achieve the same, it’s important to make sure the structure is close yet separate block to one another. Based on the Sun Path and Noise illustration providing openings on the west side better for a school, due to reflective sunlight the adequate amount of light enters the classrooms.

The community centre occupies the foreground giving accessibility for the people living in surrounding habitat, but it is the apartments which still catch your eye from the crossroads. Three residential towers, punctured by a pattern of multiple height terraces and domestically scaled balconies, recede rhythmically from the junction. They are top-heavy buildings, the upper most units ending beyond the profile of the building below.
The residential towers have been designed with 5 different levels of stepped landscape giving a spectacular view from the neighborhood.
The clubhouse is a part of the entire complex. This 13,000 sq.ft club comprises indoor sports facilities such as table tennis, billiards, gym, yoga and leisure facilities such as banquet hall, reading lounge and co-working space and accommodation for the guests.

Organo Antharam is a Rurban community targeting specific personas for whom it works as a second home, and as first home for those who want to slow down in life.
The product is designed to empathize with the resident’s daily routine.
We are working on ideas like “Gods Own Office”, Wellness Center, Health Clinic, Indulgent & Active living, Desi Dhaba and few more ideas to be integrated in the product as a larger masterplan.
This project is an in-house project which has a similar project called Organo Naandi which has been Constructed and been handed over in 2019. These projects are chain in-house projects that promote the rurban lifestyle and sustainable living while we get to experience the actual rural life with a teensy bit of luxury. The built-up area of each unit is 2650 sqm.
I was given the following tasks, Site sections using Revit, Designing House of Activity and also helped in detailing furniture and products for Antharam Spa. The most prominent thing while I was working on this project was to work on marking Road Coordinates which was truly new to me.

GM Mall and service apartment is a multi-tenanted commercial complex located in the E city Bangalore. Distinguishing itself from its neighbors while remaining firmly embedded in its industrial context, the tower—articulated in stone and glass with perforated jalis giving it a classy facade.
The building is planned in three different segments giving 3 storeys as the commercial space which accommodates all the luxury brands. The 4th storey is designed as a congregation area for the events and gatherings.
The above levels comprises of a linear single loaded corridor with the rooms spaces oriented towards north & south, with the service and circulation core. The double-glazed rooms protect the interior spaces from glare and noise pollution from the abutting road. The services provided include an AHU, elevators, electric room, restrooms and storeroom. The building also features three levels of basement parking.
This is one of the interesting projects I have taken part in as it is a mixed used space. In this particular project I was involved in the following tasks, Updating Plans, Elevations, Sections, Brick marking, Presentation drawings, Checking Column Layout, Fire Staircase Details.
