Trifecta of Books Meg Kissinger

Meg Kissinger’s “While You Were Out” is a deeply personal and poignant memoir that explores the complexities of growing up in a large, dysfunctional family. Despite the outward appearance of a charmed life, distressing challenges lurk behind closed doors. The unspoken family rule of never discussing these issues adds a deeper layer to their story and the journey to healing. Kissinger has been reporting on the inadequacies of the community mental health systems for years.

Michelle Butler

Michelle C. Butler has written a compelling series called “Bridging Hearts: Empathy in Grief.” It features her much-needed book, “Please Don’t Say That Sh*t” designed with its accompanying journals to guide readers through their journey to healing. The collection of wellintended cliches meant to support someone who is grieving, but do more damage than good, will help anyone comfort a grieving friend or relative. Her knowing suggestions for better language help grievers and their supporters grow a healthy and healing relationship.

Cynthia Hurst

Finally, Cynthia Hurst’s thought-provoking book, “The Star Project” shows us all how to examine our faith, redefine how to love and light the hope of social justice. Take a look at yourself from deep within and reach outside yourself to the stars!

Let’s explore the big questions raised in these books with their authors and dig into the experiences and life lessons of these three very creative authors.
