If so, you are not alone! There are more than 1.3 million important pre-teens and teens in the US who are caregivers. About 10,000 caregiving youth live in Palm Beach County alone! They assist parents, grandparents, siblings or other family members who are ill, injured, elderly or disabled. Many youth caregivers provide personal and/or medical care, assistance with mobility, help with medications and support family members emotionally.
It’s a challenge to juggle school plus these responsibilities! The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) helps support student-caregivers in-school, out of school and at home to increase your ability to graduate from high school and help you become a healthy, productive adult.
