ANIMA

An immersive installation of more than 3,000 fiber optic threads to reflect on the data universe at the Llum BCN 2020 festival.

In a world of constant competition, more information is gathered about people, the more power is gained over them. As fast as light, our data circulates around the world, ceases to be our property, and becomes part of an archived data system. The lights with which we can interact with Anima become symbols of collective information that remind us that we belong to a system in which, as the lights of thousands of optical fibers, we are all equal and indistinct, linked to a digital soul.

This project is a poem for the soul, an invitation to reflection.

In a society where time is no longer what it was, where it has become a straight millimeter line with no meaning or direction. Where an instant without action is interpreted as dead time. Where every thousandth of a second must be “taken advantage of.� This object is aimed at each of the nearly 8 billion humans that inhabit earth. To all those who are absorbed by the frenetic pace of our times, the sick routines of work and studies.

Hourglass collection.

Apparently, we’ve designed a classic hourglass that supposedly helps measure time. But really what we offer is a reflection about time, a poem to be aware of the present, a wave of calm for our minds.

Tempo book.

This book is not only a compilation of the work done, but it is also a piece of reflection on time.

A guided reading rhythm has been generated through the graphic decisions made.

It is a book full of text, with no content other than graphics.

To begin with, the QR code is scanned to open a mobile app with all the audiovisual content of the book inside. The mobile device is placed in the prepared space between pages. While reading the book, you will receive instructions to navigate through the mobile app. This allows for a richer reading experience since visual information provides more than what can be offered on paper. The book is in grayscale, and between sections, you can see a transition with the “fade-in� effect generated with the printing ink itself. These transitions throughout the book, allow a space for reflection, and a pause to continue reading later.

AN AWESOME WAVE

More than a tangible item.

Alt-J are an English experimental rock and indie electronic band. This music group is characterized by their experimental way of playing with sound and also by the fascinating light show during their concerts.

What I considered important was to represent the band in all their forms.

My objective was to design something unique, playful and stimulating.

The key element is the holographic effect with its brightness, ethereal and magic. The visuals absorb the viewer and transport them into another dimension. My solution to merchandising was to give the fans more than just a tangible item, to also create a magical and playful experience that a special material such as this one has to offer. The T-shirt is a stylish and unique addition to anyone’s wardrobe.
