Introducing Ms Sinenhlanhla Shozi - Director ISS

WE THE PEOPLE: Tell us your life story. I’m a wife and a mother of two boys, one of the most wonderful and important roles of my life. I’m a career public servant. I have worked for different government departments and government agencies, including the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) and most recently the KwaZulu Natal Office of the Premier.

MS SHOZI: Being a public servant has been a passion of mine. I like serving the people of my country, which I have been fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to do at different levels. I am committed to seeing our democracy prosper and living in a social cohesive society which I contribute meaningfully towards.

WE THE PEOPLE: What has been your constant

source of inspiration (e.g. book, anything you’ve read, a person, a film, piece of art, or quote, etc.)?

MS SHOZI: Spiritually, my source of inspiration is the Holy Bible which gives me direction and the wisdom I need.

My mother has been the biggest source of inspiration in terms of advice and life skills. I always joke that she is like a parent who went to a university to learn about raising kids. I cannot begin to describe the source of inspiration and fountain of wisdom she has been to me.

I read biographies of people I admire and I always learn something new and empowering from such reads.
