Winner proposal of the architectural competition of an institutional building in the southern part of Bogotá by aRE - Arquitectura en Estudio. The project is located in an informal neighborhood, right next to the new TransmiCable station -a new public transport system that connects to the city’s network-. The project aims to bring equality and access to government offices, as well as create new public spaces and a common identity.

2017

I had a key part in the design team of the competition and the development of the project as a whole for construction. The building opened to the public at the end of 2020.

During my internship in MoBo Architects I was part of the team who developed the future urban plan for the Fucha river for the year 2038. Located on the southern part of Bogotá, this massive project seeks for the recuperation of the water flow and the area along it, dividing the territory in 7 main spaces with specific urban and architectural projects.

2016

My part during that teamwork was with another 2 people, finishing the product for them to be shown and approved by the Department of Bogotá City Planning. It helped me endorse my graphic abilities as well as my critical opinion in team jobs.

Second prize awarded project in the architecture competition for a local city hall in the city centre of Bogotá. The building opens to the public space in a double height plaza that leads to the different parts of the building and connects at different levels.

2019

The institutional and public character of this building is represented by the language of the facade and the flexibility and capability of the spaces to open to the exterior. This was a proposition from aRE - Arquitectura en Estudio and Nomena Architects, of which I was an enthusiastic participant of the design team in my time working with them.

These are two different hotel proposals that sum up my experience with hospitality design, in which I was the project leader in my time working with Interior1. Ibis Calle 80 is a hotel located in one of the main entrances to Bogotá. The general concept is Sabana-City, seeking a balance and highlighting both elements of the border region of Bogotá and the city itself. Ibis Monteria, is a project in the Caribbean region of Colombia in a city close to the sea with an enriched culture. The use of design elements in the lobby, circulations and rooms want to bring nature to the interior space and acknowledge the identity of the place where the hotel is located.

Las Galias Manizales is an interior design project for Constructora Las Galias. This project is located in Manizales, in the coffee area of Colombia where the company was originally founded. Natural Wellness is the main concept, which aims to create a sustentable and green office environment using different textures and materials that evoke nature in the space. I was in charge of this project from conceptualization until the end of its construction in October 2019.

The bachelor thesis was an individual project that seeks relationships between the city, a new mass transport system, habitable spaces and the citizen’s enjoynment. It is located near to the future Santo Tomas subway station in a traditional Bogotá suburb -Chapinero- that has suffered many changes, from a mainly residential and art use to a chaotic retail and night life activities. The project main intentions are: highlight the actual pedestrian dynamics, recover the idea of an habitable Chapinero and create a place where the new inhabitants and the citizens can reunite. A monumental homogenized plaza that can be discovered across actual and new pedestrian paths, where the main use are education facilities and residential buildings along the plan.

In the academic years there was a strong tendency towards urbanism projects and theory. It was clearly learnt the importance of an architect to work together with citizens to improve and create the town we want to live in. This project was a collective work with a classmate as well as a group of a community in a northern suburb of Bogota. The park is an organic creative design where people’s needs merge with architecture to create an urban space for community leisure and to change from a wasteland to a proper public space.

This project was shared between my home university and an abroad program at the University of Oklahoma in the United States. There was a strong focus on weather conditions and constructiveness to develop a project during that exchange semester. Cubic is the result of an individual work in a requested multiple use building (gallery, retail and residential uses). It is located in the market area of Kansas City, MO. The project faced many challenges in order to maintain a smooth geometric form and to properly respond to the seasons and changing weather.
