Fifteenth Book deals with bridges of wood only. Sixteen Book deals with timber and stone; when they are cut and how stone is removed; and how morter and gypsum are made, as also bricks of various kinds. Seventeen Book deals with stones in general, and at what time they should be taken from the quarry; and at what time and season they should be placed in the work; and which break most easily; and which are most durable in the work. Eithgteenth Book treats of how the piers of stone bridges are to be made in various ways.
