Three Suns - Fiber optic sculptures connected to actual satellite data from tree stars near our solar system, inside each telescope there is a plaque made with fiber optics that has leds that are connected to an arduino, responding to the data from the satellites.

Each telescope has a motor that tracks the position of the star and change the direction of the telescope

Magnetic Landscapes is a series of sculptures. Each one is a machine that has a motor that creates movement in neodimium magnets that interact with the irong fillings on the top, generating small landscapes and patterns that are in constant evolution.

Angular lens

Hurricane is a series of sculptures consisting of two machines that have stroboscopic mechanisms inside that tricks the eye into believing that you are looking directly into an hurricane eye. The strenght of the piece lies in the angular lenses, that give the illusion of inmensity while the motor makes it spin simulating a real life hurricane.

The Architecture of Radio - Performance based on Data visualization of several radio signal data

The Architecture of Radio is a performance piece inspired by its homonimum named app that allows the user to visualize all of the radio waves surrounding the user’s location. For this performance, I am creating a similiar interface that allows me to interact with all of the satellite data, wi-fi network, cellphone antennaes and electromagnetic fields present in the moment and the space of the performance. For the piece I will be using a special sensor that give me spacial control over the interface by using only gestures from my hands (no cables involved).

The ideal way to visualize this performance wold be on 2 or 3 HD screens to create the illusion of space.

Orden Natural (Natural order) Juan Cortés David Vélez ‘Orden natural’ inquiries about the impossibilities, uncertainties and mysteries that nature presents to men when we attempt to apprehend, understand and predict its behavour. Instead nature arises as an uncontrollable force of creation and destruction, an element whose magnitude and scale become unfathomable and disconcerting. The devastating and dramatic force of phenomena such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and floods points to an expanding nature that grows and accommodates fully unaware of the presence of its beholder.

The work of Juan has explored the more visual aspect of aesthetics while the work of David has mostly focused on sonic considerations, which lead to an artistic exploration in ‘Orden natural’ where media like photography, field recordings, sound composition, painting, sculpture, and sound and video installations dialogue.

The pieces combine in their construction the use of scientific and artistic mechanisms, where the limits between fact and deceit are blurry. This complex combination of methods gave room to plenty of error and mistakes during the creative process, which is where we feel that the pieces grew from. Every piece in the exhibition functions like an independent entity that emerged from these errors and mistakes and as artists, we felt in some way involved as mediums / witnesses in the construction of each one of them.

‘Orden natural’ became a space built with time, light and resonance where the pieces can establish a dialogue in the perception of the visitor, and where the spectator is allowed to reflect his own ontological questions on these sounic and visual images that, like nature, seem completely unaware of the presence of anyone who tries to find some sense and meaning on them.

Orden natural #11 Animation based on visualisation of black holes.

Natural Order is an installation consisting of three lcd screens that have a black hole that is is contantly throwing light from its center. The piece was inspired by scientit’s recent discovery of a black hole spiting plasma after it devoured a star. The eruption happened about 7,800 years ago but it was only visible a few months ago. This is one of the firts plausible clues that can help us understand the future of outer space bodies and its relationship with our planet.
