DR. DAVE FONDREN 4

The 1978-79 Senior Class takes honor and pride in dedicating this year's CALCIID to Dr. Dave Fondren, a well deserving recipient.

Dr. Fondren serves us and our schoo l in several valuable capacities. Besides being a fine professor, Dr. Fondren is a great help to our student body in areas other than classes. He works in Limestone College's Job Placement and Career Development Office helping studen t s bey ond their years at Limestone.

Another way in which he shows his concern and consideration with stude nts is the excellent job he's doing as a counselor in our Counse ling Center, aiding students w ith whatever problems or difficulties they may have in their daily lives.

Dr. Fondren also serves on the Teacher Education Committee, he wo rks w ith the Shock Program, and is this year's senior class sponsor.

We are expressly gratefu l to Dr. Dave Fondren for all of his services a nd he lp t o everyone of us and for the love and warmth with which he carries out his services .

The dictionary meaning of "sophomore" implies having overconfidence of knowledge but poorly i nformed and immature. If this is true of us, then there is still hope, for a fault recognized is half-corrected.

We look back at our freshman year and compare it to now, realizing the change that has come ove r us in a year of college. We look forward to our junior and senior years and accept them and the challenges they offer. All of this is c h ange, and in response to our "immaturity" by definition, we leave you with this thought: Classes 177 When change is successful, we look back and call it growth.

Brenda Elliott is M iss Limestone 1978-1979. She is a sophomore ma joring in Theatre Arts. Brenda enjoys ba llet, jazz dancing, and wa ter skiing. She has appeared in several plays since her arriva l at Limestone College.

Membership into the Hall of Fame is an honor awa rded to two members , one male and one female, from sophomore class, from the junior class , and from the sen ior class.

Considerations given in se lecting persons to be honored a re character, leade rsh ip, service to the college , participation, versatility, and future potential. Here, now, we present to you the 1979 members of the Hall of Fame.

Penny Oglesby is a sophomore English major from Gaffney, S. C. She has served in the capacity of sophomore class vice-president and pres ident. Penny has also participated in working on the Lantern staff.

Hugh Fraser Clayton, from Gaithersburg, Maryland, is a transfer sophom ore majoring in history. Hugh is a member of the Saints Pep Club as well as a Li mestone cheerleader. He also serves on the Social Board.

Merike Saarniit Clapham is a senior studio art major. She is the vice-president of The TAU PSI Cast of Alpha Psi Omega, a national theatre honor fraternity. Meri ke is a member of Kalosophia, the Limestone chapter of ALPHA CHI, a national a cademic honor fraternity_ She is also a member of the Limestone Chorus and t he Publications Committee 1978-79. Miss Clapham is listed in 'Who's Who in American Co lleges and Universities."

She serves in t he capacity of ed itor of The Lantern and is a feat ure wr iter f or the paper as well. We are proud to say that Mer ike has also worked dutifu lly on our Ca lc iid staff.

Besides all this, Merike works as a part-time faculty secretary and a part-time f inancial aid secretary.

George Ruff, from Union, S. C., is a senior biology major. He is a membe r of both the Lambda Mu Sigma socia l fratern ity and the Chi Beta Phi science fraternity. George also was selected to "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities." He has served on Combined Council and Upper Court of our Student Government Associatio n . George participated in the sports program as statistician of the volleyball team. Thi s year George has worked as Assistant Resident Director.

Mary Ann Stroud is from Lincolnton, N. C. She is a junior majoring in stud io art. Mary Ann is the 1978-79 Lambda Mu Sigma Sweetheart and was also sponso red b y the same fraternity to be on the 1979 Homecoming Court. She exhibited eight works in the annual Limestone Juried Stude nt Show. Mary Ann is now well-serving in th e capacity of co-editor of this, our Calciid.

Wayne Robinson is from Union, S. C., and is a junior majoring in Music Performance.

Wayne is president of MENC. He is also president of the Limestone Chorus_ Wayne serves on Dorm Court as well. Besides these, Wayne is the d irector and p ianist for his own Gospel Ensemble.
