Letter from Joe Diab, Chair of Board of Trustees
Leading through a time of extraordinary challenges, Franklin Roosevelt is attributed with the insight that courage is not the absence of fear, but the recognition that there is something more important than fear. Throughout the most prolonged, disruptive period in our school’s history, the courage and commitment of our teachers, staff, administration, and community navigated St. Timothy’s through exceptional challenges with extraordinary results.
This annual report reveals the magnitude and impact of these accomplishments. Philanthropic support from our parents, grandparents, alumni, and community is at record levels, as is our enrollment. These numbers reflect only part of our story. No less significant is the enduring contribution from our faculty, staff, and administration through their tireless commitment to every student, to their colleagues, and to the mission of St. Timothy’s School. Through their day-to-day actions even in the most trying of circumstances, our students saw the embodiment of character traits which include courage, persistence, compassion, and mutual respect, as well as an ideal characteristic for all St. Timothy’s graduates – the ability to “solve problems with diligence and creativity.” Our faculty have both taught these qualities and have lived them.

Our parents and community have provided a transformative level of personal and financial support. Our Board has undertaken the work to clarify our mission and vision for the future, refined through the crucible of intense challenge. All of us have come to the realization that St. Timothy’s is a community much bigger than the buildings and grounds at the corner of Six Forks and Rowan. We are, as our updated mission statement attests, “A nurturing community of academic excellence that instills the knowledge, skills and values for a life of purpose,” no matter the location, circumstance, or adversity. Advanced through the character of our teachers, the leadership of our administration, and the support from our community, the mission of St. Timothy’s is stronger, more expansive, and more resilient than ever.
To say that we are grateful does not say enough. We are humbled and inspired by the efforts and example of this exceptional community of educators, leaders, parents, and friends of St Timothy’s.
On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, thank you for everything you do and for everything you are for St. Timothy’s School.

Joe Diab, Chair
