At JCU Christian Students Townsville (JCUCS), we challenge members to consider big questions and our life purpose. We believe that our biggest purpose in life is to know God and be in a relationship with Him- the creator of the universe. Our club motto is “To proclaim Jesus on campus to present everyone mature in him”. For 53 years, JCU CS has been helping people at JCU encounter Jesus through the Bible, to understand the depth of God’s love for them.

Everyone and anyone is welcome to attend our regular events, which you can find on our Facebook page and website!

On campus, we host The Bible Talks on Wednesdays and Thursdays, where we listen and think about different themes from the Bible and share dinner afterwards. We also host Bible studies for college and International students, allowing people to read the Bible for themselves in a friendly group setting. These events provide a unique way for students to make lasting friendships with people from other degrees and year groups! Our social events include social sport on Fridays and occasionally a Uniconnect social activity to share a meal, read the Bible and play games.

Two of the larger events we hold during the year combines club members from both Cairns and Townsville campuses, where members are encouraged to learn more about God through studying the Bible over a longer time period. Kick Off Camp is held on the weekend following Week 3, Sem 1. The Camp is held near tropical Cardwell and is a great way to meet others from CS, hear about Jesus and the Bible, explore the region, encounter a few cane toads, and make new friends. Mid-Year Camp is held in the Atherton Tablelands at the end of the Semester 1 holiday. During the week at Camp, we have a guest speaker who opens the Bible with us. We have fun exploring the beautiful lakes around the region during our free time, and we leave Camp challenged by each other to live as Christians on campus. There might also be a Mark Drama, a theatre performance that retells the gospel of Mark. Look out for more info in Semester 2!
