found a way to win the National Championship

l Melvin Allen finished with 20 points

l Robert Spurgeon had 15 points and 9 rebounds

l Earl Warren scored 13 points and had a game-saving steal

and the game-winning free throws

l Pat Williams tossed in 12 points off the bench

l Coach Bill Jones and the Gamecocks accepted the National

Championship trophy in Springfield, Massachusetts
