Increase your mileage gradually

The ten percent rule, which states that your weekly distance should only be increased by 10 % per week, is something that any seasoned runner will tell you. Your body has an opportunity to adapt without feeling overworked and is protected from harm by small mileage increases. The following week, you should run a maximum of 11 miles if you, for instance, ran 10 miles overall during the previous week.
