This workshop navigates the federal job process and the federal hiring authorities with an emphasis on veteran’s and spouse preference.

NEW SPOUSE ORIENTATION September 03 • 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

This class will cover information on military culture and resources. Participants will learn to read and understand Navy Leave and Earning Statement (LES), military time, rates/rank, sea duty versus shore duty, Navy jargon, and more.

CAR BUYING September 03 • 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

This workshop will cover; Budgeting, Depreciation, Maintenance, Insurance Costs, Financing, Resale Value, and Warranties.

Orientation provides information on the services available to military personnel and their family members followed by a brief on the history of Guam.

In addition, participants will receive a required Water Safety briefing.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS September 17 • 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

The final component of “Transition Assistance Program” (TAP) will prepare participants with the appropriate skills and knowledge to support post-service career goals.

VOCATIONAL TRACK September 09 – 10 • 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Transitioning service members will be guided in choosing a career, determining additional training needs, exploring funding, and finding the right institution.

EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY MEMBER PROGRAM (EFMP) INFORMATIONAL BRIEF September 09 • 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

This brief will provide information on the mandatory enrollment, referrals, resources, systems navigation, and non-medical case management for special needs families.

DEVELOPING A SPENDING PLAN September 11 • 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Learn to express feelings and ideas, accurately and effectively, with specific tips on communicating more clearly at home and at work.

INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES September 22 • 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Learn positive answers to difficult questions and the importance of body language. Interview follow-up and salary negotiations will be discussed.

SMOOTH MOVE September 24 • 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Are you PCSing within 6-12 months? Covers entitlements, shipping of personal property, clearing housing (on/off base), FFSC programs and services available.

ANGER MANAGEMENT September 30 • 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Learn methods to effectively control and manage your anger by recognizing the sources and impacts of this emotion.
