EFMP TRAINING

MAY 26, 2021 AT ANDERSEN TOP OF THE ROCK

by Family Readiness Regional Program Director, Dr. Marcia Gladney Marcia.Gladney@fe.navy.mil The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is designed to provide support to military family members with special needs. The EFMP is a multidisciplinary assignment tool that interfaces with other military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated medical, educational, community and personnel support to military families with special needs. EFMP documents long-term medical needs (including physical and mental health) and special education needs of Exceptional Family Members. Enrollment in the EFMP ensures consideration of the needs of family members in the assignment process. Training was spearheaded by Joint Region Marianas Family Readiness Regional Program Director, Dr. Marcia Gladney. JRM provided family support, medical personnel, family members and service members with the latest information on programs and services available to military families with special needs. Presentations targeted topics such as Exceptional Family Member Program Overview, TRICARE, Helping Families through the IEP Process, What is Autism/Developmental Delay, Suitability Screening, Family Support Programs, Clinical Counseling Services, School Liaison Program and access to other programs and services. The training culminated with the need to strengthen partnerships to ensure comprehensive services are available to support the military community. Participants were asked to spread the word about EFMP, encourage families to enroll, and increase awareness regarding support services provided at NBG Fleet and Family Support Center and Airmen and Family Readiness Center.
