The spread of the coronavirus across the world and our country has created an incredibly stressful environment for all of us, especially those with underlying health conditions. Because we are socially isolated and the media bombards us with the latest numbers on COVID-19 cases and deaths, we experience a roller coaster of emotions. Our reactions can fluctuate from disbelief, denial, anxiety, fear, anger, and even depression. MESSAGE FROM THE CONGREGATIONAL NURSES… We will NOT be having our usual Fall influenza vaccine clinic this year. We do strongly advise everyone to get the vaccine. It is anticipated people who have had the Covid-10 virus are more likely to get influenza because of their weakened immune system. If you have a compromised immune system, for other reasons as well, check with your personal care physician for advice about taking the vaccine. You can get the Influenza vaccine at physician offices, Walgreens, CVS and Safeway pharmacies. Also due to the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 virus, we have not been having our monthly blood pressure clinics. If you need your BP checked, feel free to contact one of our congregational nurses and they will be happy to check yours individually. When: 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020 Registration link: https://hov.org/community-education/community-event-registration/ Speaker: Bob Barrett has been with a chaplain with Hospice of the Valley since 2006, serving patients in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, his work is increasingly focused on comforting families who cannot visit their loved ones in these facilities. He provides spiritual care and grief and loss support for our community, as well as Hospice of the Valley staff. The Session is continuing its policy that masks or face shields are required for everyone who attends worship with the exception of children age five and under (who must remain with guardians at all times). A mask or face shield must be worn when you are entering the building, during the worship service and the entire time you are on the church campus (bring one from home or one will be provided). For those who are unable to wear a mask or face shield due to medical reasons, The Session feels that you are safer at home.
Preparing an estate plan is good Christian stewardship - saying thanks to God, expressing your love and concern for family, and showing charity towards others.
Plant a tree for your great-grandchildren to climb. Remember the DHPC Foundation in your estate plans.
