WALKING BESIDE MINISTRY Think of a time when you really felt cared for. Chances are someone focused on what you had to say, was attentive to your needs, and listened to how you felt instead of telling you how you should feel or what you should do. Our Walking Beside Ministry is a ministry of listening. Listening is one of the most powerful ministry tools at our disposal. It demonstrates that you care about the other person. It’s listening in such a way as to be able to feel what someone else is truly feeling. Would you like to have a good listener sit with you for a while? If so, contact Pastor Brett, Pastor Jim, or any one of our team members. Laurann Cook Barb Conti Joe Gilleland Steve Haver Moon Kahn

Looking for an In-depth Bible Study? Why
Join us as we study Genesis… Genesis is the book of beginnings, the foundation of the entire Bible. This 30-lesson in-depth study serves as the grand gateway into God’s Word: Creation, rebellion, judgment, and forgiveness are showcased. The book describes the origins of the Hebrew nation, the people through who God would bring the Messiah, His instrument of salvation. Why study the Bible? We get to know God through His word. God speaks to us through His Word. God’s Word brings life. God’s Word offers stability in an unstable world. God’s Word helps us to pray effectively. This is a non-denominational Co-Ed Class. For more information or to register, contact Kathleen Harris at (480) 488-3384 (church), (602) 741-3429 (cell) or kharris@deserthills.org

DISCIPLE CONCERT ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND!
Sunday, October 10th, 7:00pm DHPC Fellowship Center To purchase tickets go to: https://disciplerocks.com/tour/
Since their debut album in 1995, Disciple has recorded 12 albums, earned 14 No. 1 singles, and sold hundreds of thousands of records. Their music has been featured on ESPN’s NFL Live, WWE, Fox Sports, as well as in commercials for CBS’ CSI: Miami and Criminal Minds. They’ve received multiple Dove Awards, played thousands of shows worldwide, and their 13th album debuted September 13, 2019 on Tooth & Nail Records. The full-length, Love Letter Kill Shot, continues their legacy as a band immune to burnout. If anything, their latest record takes their legacy and amplifies it; the project is full of prolific guitar riffs, new collaborative lyrical contributions, and fresh themes. The title takes inspiration from the salvation message in the Gospel, acknowledging that when we accept the love of Christ we learn how to lay our own lives down and live in Him. “It’s the duality of our perceived identity and Christ’s identity in us that shapes the album,” says band frontman Kevin Young. Using personal stories of depression, anxiety, and suffering, Young and fellow bandmates Josiah Prince, Andrew
Stanton, and Joey West, highlight the redeeming truth that Christ uses all tragedy for victory. Love Letter Kill Shot unleashes the band’s enthusiasm for heavy rock and scripture that heals—utilizing this record to speak less to Jesus and more to the listener about how they can find their hope in Him. What they’re talking about, how they’re saying it, and the way they're playing it proves that Disciple is a group who after all these years still lives to outdo themselves. General admission tickets are $15 in advance or $20 day of show. VIP tickets are $35 and include early admission for a Q&A with the band and 1 or 2 acoustic songs. VIPs also get a poster, a copy of new Disciple Album, and a picture with the full group. To purchase tickets go to: https:// disciplerocks.com/tour/ Questions? Contact Chris Haidet, Family & Student Ministry Director # (480) 329-7097

Leupp Sister Church Visit and Covid-19, a message from the chairpersons, Rhonda Noble and Chuck Starnes… The organizers of this year's annual Clan of Christ visit (October 16-17) would like everyone to know we have been very diligent in planning all activities with Covid-19 in mind. For months we have been in contact with our sister church's pastor and his wife, Calvin and Eunice, and their Session, in getting updates from the reservation and making plans. We will hold most of our activities outside, including the Saturday evening dinner and program (see “All Church Picnic” for information). Most of the elderlies from Leupp will be staying home this year, along with anyone else who feels they need to self-isolate. Many of those coming down to visit have been vaccinated. The Tribal government encourages the Navajos to wear masks while away from the reservation. We will be following our Session’s guidelines of recommended mask wearing but not required. We encourage all folks to attend the events as they feel comfortable. page 12

Financial Peace University Postponement Our plans for a Fall Financial Peace University class are now showing the need to postpone this exciting class to begin in January 2022 for 9 weeks due to too many churches near us holding their classes in the early Fall. It will be fantastic to start 2022 off with this class to help our attendees get rid of debt acquired over Christmas, the pandemic and make Financial Peace University attendance one of their New Years Resolution!!! This class is a great exercise for all ages of people that would like a refresher course in BUDGETING, PAYING OFF DEBTS, MANAGING CREDIT CARDS, SAVING FOR RETIREMENT OR REVISING YOUR SPENDING DURING RETIREMENT. THIS COURSE IS EXCELLENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE AGE STUDENTS as well. Many parents and grandparents will want to attend WITH OR INSTEAD OF those students to help them develop successful financial habits now so they can be successful in life, marriage and retirement. Financial Peace University teaches basic but important skills that anyone can brush up on. We will provide information on how to sign-up as soon as our new date is confirmed at FPU. Questions?
