I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, You love us, but we do not love You fully. You call, but we do not always listen. We often walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped in our own concerns. We often condone evil, hatred, warfare and greed. God of grace, help us to admit our sin, so that as You move toward us in mercy, we may repent, turn to You, and receive forgiveness, through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (1 John 1:9)
Leader: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

To Abraham and Sarah the call of God was clear: “Go forth and I will show you a country rich and fair. You need not fear the journey for I have pledged my word: that you shall be my people and I will be your God.”
From Abraham and Sarah arose a pilgrim race, dependent for their journey on God’s abundant grace. and in their heart was written by God this saving word: “that you shall be my people and I will be your God.”
We of this generation on whom God’s hand is laid, can journey to the future secure and unafraid! rejoicing in God’s goodness and trusting in this word: that you shall be my people and I will be your God.
