8:15AM/9:45AM Service November 1, 2020 MORE PEOPLE, MORE LIKE CHRIST
Jesus then began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place...

*CALL TO WORSHIP based on Matthew 28:18-20 Leader: People: Leader: People: All:
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
#403, vs. 1,2,4
Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation
1. Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone, Chosen of the Lord and precious, Binding all the Church in one, Holy Zion's help forever, And her confidence alone.
2. To this temple, where we call Thee, Come, O Lord of hosts, today. With accustomed loving-kindness, Hear Thy people as they pray, And Thy fullest benediction Shed within its walls alway.
4. Laud and honor to the Father, Laud and honor to the Son, Laud and honor to the Spirit; Ever Three and ever One. One in might, and One in glory While unending ages run. *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. *GLORY BE TO THE FATHER Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION God of grace, love and communion, we confess that we have failed to love You with all our heart, soul and mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We ignore Your commandments, stray from Your ways and follow other gods. Have mercy on us. Forgive our sin and raise us to new life that we may serve You faithfully and give honor to Your holy name. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) Leader:
All:
It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore, let us assure one another of God's pardon. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen. SCRIPTURE
Mark 11:27-33
They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?” Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!” They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ …” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.” Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God! PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Adversity is a condition of suffering and hardship involving anguish, pressure, trials, heartaches, or disappointments. It may be physical or emotional in nature, and either long or short in duration, but it always causes pain. Although none of us want hurt or trouble, if it comes, we have two options. We can waste our sorrows or grow in our relationship with the Lord. Spiritual growth in adversity depends on several factors; one of which is to equip us to comfort others. That is where your Walking Beside ministers can make a difference -- meeting your need by providing care, compassion, community, and a listening ear. Give us a call.

Sister Churches One in Christ Leupp, Jamaica & DHPC
Join the 2020 Faith Family Video with Our Sister Churches Share Your Covid-19 God Sightings
The Lord has brought DHPC, Leupp and Jamaica together in ministry as the Clan of Christ showing the world how to be “One in Christ.” This year, for the first time, we will not be sharing in worship, ministry, and friendship together. When we missed our annual spring trip to Leupp, we posted a love message on the Hope Resurrected Facebook page. There we shared our prayers and fond memories of good times together. Now is when we would normally share our ministries with a Fall Faith Festival. Instead, we are creating a Faith Family Video by sharing stories of how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected our lives and ministries. Join pastors Jim, Brett, Calvin and Khereen by participating in our Faith Family Video with your story. Suggested topics include: •God sightings we have witnessed during COVID19. •How we are staying sane with lockdowns, masks, and social distancing? •How the kids are coping with the social distancing? •How the kids and college students are going to school? •How we are staying connected to the community during COVID-19? •How we are connecting with Friends and Family during COVID-19? •What insights we have made during COVID-19? •How we have engaged in ministry during COVID-19? •Choose your own story experience unique to you. Stories from DHPC, Leupp and Jamaica will be assembled in a Faith Family Video with inspirational music to be shared as sister churches in Christ.
You are invited to tell your story. Ways to tell your story... •Self-introduced story •Discussion with family •Interview with questions •Your way to express your thoughts To participate in our virtual gathering with Leupp and Jamaica contact Chuck Starnes for more information. Send an Email to cstarnes33@gmail.com or text 623-261-8969 by TODAY, November 1, 2020. page 8

Fixin’ Bags New Normal!
Life has changed so we are having to change with it (with God’s help!). Eight years ago, the church began filling bags of food containing the necessary items to make a complete dinner, to give to the Foothills Food Bank for their Thanksgiving Turkey distribution. The last two years we gave out small bags for financial donations and the Food Bank purchased the food. Due to COVID-19, we will not be giving out small fixin’ bags but ask that you consider making donations directly to the church with a notation on the memo line of the check, “Fixin Bags”. The need for food is still GREAT in our community so let’s dig deep in our pockets and keep our giving going from DHPC. Money will be collected from NOW until Nov. 12. Questions? Contact Pat Nichols 480.595.5751 God has blessed us in so many ways at DHPC! “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” -Luke 12:48b

Weekly reservations are still required to attend. In addition, The Session is continuing its policy that masks or face shields are required for everyone who attends worship with the exception of children age five and under (who must remain with guardians at all times). A mask or face shield must be worn when you are entering the building, during the worship service and the entire time you are on the church campus (bring one from home or one will be provided). For those who are unable to wear a mask or face shield due to medical reasons, The Session feels that you are safer at home.
