Leader: Unless the Lord builds the house,

Bible School

People: The people who build it labor in vain.

Leader: Unless the Lord guards the city,

People: The watchman keeps awake in vain.

Leader: It is vain for you to rise early, to retire late, and to eat the bread of painful labors.

People: God gives rest to His people.

Leader: Today is a day of rest. Therefore, let us worship the Lord.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. OF CONFESSION

O Holy God, we acknowledge to You, to ourselves, and to one another that we are not what You called us to be. We have not stood by our faith, shared our hope, or reached out with love. Instead, we have allowed ourselves to become blind to the world around us. Open our eyes that we may see the world as You see it, and know You as fully as we are known by You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Leader: If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has passed away. Behold, the new has come. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon. All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
