*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
Heather Everett
People: Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Leader: They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
People: All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Leader: Let us seek the Lord in prayer.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.
*GLORY BE TO THE FATHER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, You poured Your Spirit upon gathered disciples, creating bold tongues, open ears, and a new community of faith. We confess that we hold back the force of Your Spirit among us. We do not listen to Your Word of Grace, speak the good news of Your love, or live as a people made one in Christ. Have mercy on us, O Lord. Transform our timid lives by the power of Your Spirit, and fill us with a burning desire to be Your faithful people, doing Your will for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 3:18)
Leader: And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon.
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
ANTHEM
Praise to the Spirit
Praise to the Spirit, Spirit of Fire.
God is now with us, our hearts to inspire. Sing alleluia, alleluia. Come and sing, rejoice. God is now with us, our hearts to inspire. Sing alleluia, alleluia. Come sing, rejoice.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
SCRIPTURE

OF THE PEOPLE
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
