PRAYER OF CONFESSION Lord Jesus, forgive our lack of faith in you. Forgive our uncertainty as to whether or not you can or even want to heal us, forgive us, restore us, and make us whole. Forgive our desire to remain anonymous in the crowd of worshippers, our desire for healing and not relationship, our efforts to remain unknown even to you. Thank you for pushing through all of this to not only heal, but also to draw us out into a face-to-face relationship with you. You are not afraid or embarrassed to acknowledge us before the crowds of the world, may we never be afraid to acknowledge you as our Lord and Savior before others. By the power of your Spirit may we invite others to come into your presence and receive the hope of salvation. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) Leader:

The Woman Hiding in the Crowd The woman hiding in the crowd reached for Christ’s garment hem that simply by the touch of it she might be healed within.
The burdens now that weigh us down, the sins we fear to speak, the ache of heart and empty soul we lay before your feet.
From Christ went forth the healing grace, her health and life restored. “Who touched my clothes?” the Savior asked, but no one said a word.
So touch us, Lord, with healing grace and make us whole again that we may always live in you and know your peace within.
The woman knelt before him then with joy and anxious fear, and Jesus blessed her lovingly: “In peace go forth from here.” PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. 30 At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” 31 “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ” 32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God!
