*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.
*GLORY BE TO THE FATHER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Far too often, O God, we desire to look wise in the eyes of the world. We have not spoken truth with our hearts. We have said and done hurtful things to our friends. We have forgotten our true identity, wandering into ways that are not yours. We have lost the path of true worship, focusing on form and words rather than deeds. Forgive us and help us live into becoming the people you have created and called us to be: people of justice, love, truth and humility. May we embrace our true identity even in the face of the world’s scorn and ridicule. For we ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 3:18)
Leader: And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon.
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
SCRIPTURE Isaiah 58:6-11 Page 1060 Pew Bible Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God!

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
*HYMN
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

OFFERTORY
Lord, Whose Love in Humble Service David Ashley White
Chancel Choir; Franck Avril, oboe
Lord, whose love in humble service Bore the weight of human need, Who did on the cross forsaken, Show us mercy’s perfect deed; We, your servants bring the worship Not of voice alone, but heart: Consecrating to your purpose Every gift which you impart.
Still your children wander homeless; Still the hungry cry for bread; Still the captives long for freedom; Still in grief we mourn our dead. As, O Lord, your deep compassion Healed the sick and freed the soul, Use the love your Spirit kindles Still to save and make us whole.
*DOXOLOGY
As we worship, grant us vision, Till your love’s revealing light, Till the height and depth and greatness Dawns upon our human sight: Making known the needs and burdens Your compassion bids us bear, Stirring us to faithful service, Your abundant life to share.
Called from worship into service
Forth in your great name we go, To the child, the youth, the aged, Love in living deeds to show; Hope and health, good will and comfort, Counsel, aid, and peace we give That your children, Lord, in freedom, May your mercy know and live.
