Sovereign God, we confess that we have not turned away from sin. We seek our own self-interest instead of serving others. We glorify power and wealth instead of worshiping You. Forgive us, God of grace. Teach us to treasure Your gifts and to seek the good of all, so that we may be a blessing; through Jesus Christ ur Lord. Amen.

3 “The manager said to himself,‘What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m ashamed to beg— 4 I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’
