8:15/9:45AM Service February 14, 2021 MORE PEOPLE, MORE LIKE CHRIST
After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. - Mark 16:19-20

SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY February 14, 2021, 8:15/9:45AM
PRELUDE
Schmucke dich, o liebe Seele, BWV 654 Natalie Mealey, organ
J.S. Bach
*CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: People:
Leader: People: Leader: People:
God has saved us and called us to a holy life— not because of anything we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Jesus destroyed death and brought us life. Let us worship the Lord.
HYMN #38
Ye Servants of God
1. Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim, And publish abroad His wonderful Name; The Name, all victorious, of Jesus extol: His kingdom is glorious, He rules over all.
3. "Salvation to God, Who sits on the throne!" Let all cry aloud, and honor the Son; The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim, Fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb.
2. God ruleth on high, almighty to save, And still He is nigh, His presence we have; The great congregation His triumph shall sing, Ascribing salvation to Jesus, our King.
4. Then let us adore, and give Him His right All glory and power, all wisdom and might, All honor and blessing, with angels above, And thanks never-ceasing, and infinite love.
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. *GLORY BE TO THE FATHER #813 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen. page 3
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Gracious Lord Jesus, we confess that at times we run around in life as if possessed by anything other than Your love. A legion of concerns and worries can easily overwhelm us. And we can forget all that You have done for us. Help us to recall the good things You have done, and how You have shown mercy upon us. May we be eager to proclaim Your love and bear witness to Your grace. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (1 John 1:9) LEADER: ALL:
If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Therefore let us assure one another of God’s pardon. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
ANTHEM
Now the Green Blade Riseth Chancel Choir
arr. John Carter
Now the green blade riseth, from the buried grain, Wheat that in the dark earth many days has lain; Love lives again, that with the dead has been: Love is come again like wheat that springeth green.
Forth He came at Easter, like the risen grain, He that for three days in the grave had lain; Quick from the dead my risen Lord is seen: Love is come again like wheat that springeth green.
In the grave they laid Him, Love whom hate had slain, Thinking that never He would awake again; Laid in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen: Love is come again like wheat that springeth green.
When our hearts are wintry, grieving, or in pain, Thy touch can call us back to life again; Fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been: Love is come again like wheat that springeth green.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen. SCRIPTURE
2 Timothy 1:1-14
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, in keeping with the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my dear son:
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is page 4
able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day. What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God! [9:45am] RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS Tom & Melissa Masles, Sharon Zinser, Valerie Shea, Al & Laurie Schuler, Richard “Dick” Hollinger, Georgie Brenner, Joe & Jenifer Zylwitis, Jim & Sheryl Bohlander, Jim & Marilyn Strohan, Charles “Charlie” Macintosh, Kevin & Beverley Keele and Lynne Plaugher PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. *HYMN #589
Here I Am, Lord I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?
I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people’s pain. I have wept for love of them, They turn away. I will break their heart of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them. Whom shall I send? Refrain
Refrain: Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go, Lord, If You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them, My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide 'Til their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send? Refrain

Jelly, Cream Soup, Pasta Sides/Rice Sides (Rice A Roni, etc.) Bottled Juice, Sugar, Flour, Canned Fruit All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name In the number of hymnbooks in which it appears, this hymn ranks in the top ten in the English language. Its popularity was probably not due to the author’s personality; all accounts show Rev. Edward Perronet (17211792) to be a sharp-tongued, difficult personality, who would rather pick a fight over theology than display brotherly love. Part of its popularity may be due to the fact that it is commonly sung to three different tunes. Our hymnal contains two of these tunes: #16 and #43. The text has been revised over the years to the form we know today. The hymn originally contained some interesting verses, including: "Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre, And as they tune it, fall Before His face who tunes their choir, And crown Him Lord of all.

Weekly reservations are still required to attend. In addition, The Session is continuing its policy that masks or face shields are required for everyone who attends worship with the exception of children age five and under (who must remain with guardians at all times). A mask or face shield must be worn when you are entering the building, during the worship service and the entire time you are on the church campus (bring one from home or one will be provided). For those who are unable to wear a mask or face shield due to medical reasons, The Session feels that you are safer at home.
