Who among us is seeking the Lord?

We long to see the Lord face-to-face.

Who among us is seeking the wisdom of God? We long to hear God’s Word spoken to our hearts.

Who among you is seeking a Spirit-filled life?

We long to live lives of holiness and light.

God grants God’s wisdom generously to all who ask. Come near, people of God! Let us worship the Lord in spirit and truth.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Gracious Lord, You call us to step out in faith, to place our lives in Your hands, and to wholeheartedly commit to following You. We confess that we find this difficult to do. It is not always easy to follow where You lead—to turn away from our own personal wants and desires, to let go of our safety nets and trust that You will provide for us in all things. Forgive us when we doubt You, God and have forgotten the lesson of the loaves. Increase our faith. Open our eyes to see past our own interests and concerns, to Your broader vision for us and for our world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) Leader:

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

SCRIPTURE My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Proverbs 2:1-15 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.

For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

THE FOGDALL SCHOLARSHIP FUND The Fogdall Scholarship Fund was established in 1989 to encourage and promote education to worthy students who have demonstrated good Christian character.

This Scholarship is given to supplement expenses incurred while pursuing a curriculum that leads to an undergraduate college degree Dedicated high school graduates who are members, or affiliates of DHPC or members of Leupp Presbyterian Church are eligible for the Fogdall Scholarship.

Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. The DHPC Scholarship Committee provides the oversight of these funds and interacts regularly with the students The recipients for this year’s scholarships are: Makyla Allison – Senior (Leupp Church) Joseph Pitts – Sophomore Nathaniel Everett – Sophomore Zach Hoffman – Sophomore Bessie Benham – Freshman Hannah Kress – Freshman Congratulations to these outstanding students and we wish them God’s blessings as they begin the 2020 Fall Semester.
