I believe in God the FatherAlmighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ,His only Son,our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of theVirgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the FatherAlmighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.

All: In Jesus Christ,we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION A broken and contrite heart is the acceptable sacrifice to you, O God.And so we come before you today as sinners in need of your mercy.Grant us your forgiveness,O God.Help us turn from our old ways. Lead us into newness of life, that our actions may be found pleasing in your sight.

SCRIPTURE Romans 8:18-25 NIV

For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it,in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

ANTHEM The Desert Shall Rejoice composer Summer Choir The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad, shall be glad, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose. Say to them that are fearful of heart, Be strong,be strong and glad and fear not; Behold, your God will come: He will come and save you.

Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so,but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all.Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

PRAYERS OFTHE PEOPLE

Leader: This is the word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God!

ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)

Leader: It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ. He anointed us,set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon.

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed beThy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. ForThine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. *HYMN #563 Rise Up, O Saints of God! tune:FESTAL SONG OFFERINGS OFTHE PEOPLE OFFERTORY We Shall Behold Him Dottie Rambo Susan Reed, soloist; Barbara Cochran, piano *DOXOLOGY #815 OLD HUNDREDTH

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; 4 say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong,do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”

5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.

8 And a highway will be there; it will be called theWay of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on thatWay. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.

Everett *PRAYER OF DEDICATION

7

9 No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, 10 and those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. It’sWorth theWait” Rev.Brett

6 Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

SERMON “Homecoming:

The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.

The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, 2 it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.
