PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy Spirit, we confess we are not Joseph, but there are times in our lives when we have felt like outsiders or trapped by our right actions. There are times when we have felt abandoned. God, forgive us for becoming embittered about those harsh times in our lives, or to hate as a result. Forgive us when we have failed to trust in you as the God who cares for those who are vulnerable and powerless. Remind us you came as a helpless baby to show us you are not interested in power, but love. Help us to understand a hope that is different from that of this world–a hope founded in Christ Jesus. Amen.
