PRELUDE WORDS OF WELCOME
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: We gather together to worship our loving, nurturing God, who, like a mother, People: knows us intimately, loves us unconditionally, teaches us the way we should go, and comforts us in times of need.
Leader: Praise God, People: the Source and Sustainer of life!
*PRAYER OF INVOCATION
*HYMN Standing on the Promises

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost, The holy catholic church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy and merciful God, in your presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against you. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. Forgive our sins and help us to live in your light and walk in your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)
LEADER: It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore, let us assure one another of God’s pardon.
ALL: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
ANTHEM I Will Exalt You, O My God

I will exalt You, O my Lord. I will exalt You, O my Lord. You have lifted me up; You have saved me.
I will exalt You, O my Lord.
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
David Miller Men’s Choir
AaronMy heart sings to You; My sorrow’s turned to dancing. You have clothed me in joy.
I will give You thanks forevermore.
I will exalt You, O my Lord...
Spirit of God, speak once again through the Words of Scripture that our listening ears may hear Your voice. Help us to place Your Word in our minds, treasure it in our hearts, choose it with our wills, and live it through our bodies. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
SCRIPTURE Genesis 16:1-6 NIV
Leader: This is the word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God!

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

OFFERINGS OF THE PEOPLE
OFFERTORY

Once I traveled in the valley so low, so low, And lonely and weary was I. Now I travel in the valley no more, no more, And I’ll reach the other side by and by, by and by.

Well, well, I’m climbing up the mountain to the sky
I’m going where I’ll never, never die, never die.
I’m climbing up the mountain, climbing high up the mountain, And I’ll reach the other side by and by, by and by.
I’ve been to the river, I’ve been baptized, I’ve been washed in the blood of the Lamb.
I’ve been changed from the creature that once I was And “redeemed” is now my name.
I’ve been changed, I’m newborn now All my life has been rearranged. What a diff’rence it made when the Lord came and stayed In my heart, O yes, I’ve been changed.
You know I’m climbing up the mountain, Higher up the mountain to the sky
I’m going, yes, I’m going where I’ll ne.ver, never die, never die. I’m climbing up the mountain, climbing higher up the mountain, And I’ll reach the other side by and by.

Why do we have a caring ministry to meet people’s needs? Because the needs are there. Sometimes the needs are quiet and can go unnoticed. Sometimes people think, “My need isn’t important enough—I’ll go it alone.” Or we want to look the other way just as the three men did who preceded the Samaritan on the road to Jericho. The needs are there—a wounded heart, a broken life, or other life challenge. They need Christ’s love and healing.1

DHPC’s Walking Beside Ministry helps our church meet the needs in our congregation and community. If you would like someone to talk to in confidence or walk alongside you for a while, give us a call.
